Need some kind of biotech in there where the circuit board or coating changes colour depending on tap water / sea water / sweat composition to give some better idea of the problem. Current sensors are a bit dumb and not actually measuring the properties of the board/contamination at all. Diagnosis looks a bit heuristic at the moment which no doubt creates errors both ways.

There are rumors from time to time about liquipel being used in upcoming models - that's the other approach to the problem.

I have to wonder if manufacturer approach to warranty varies depending on the carrier sold to. Are large carriers given a discount on the total sale price to cover warranty claims for agreed categories of defect?

cyril7: Hi as the OP mentions from comments around the world (UK in particular) SGSII phones have been failing in large numbers due to "liquid damage", it could be the real numbers are no different to other model phones, but comments on various forums seem to indicate maybe not.

Cyril do a search for US law suit taken out against Samsung for substandard capacitors being used in their LCD tv's the law suit was accepted, so if they can do it to tv's why not phones

Well!! They are asking me to allow them to send the phone back to Telegistics for a second opinion!! Have told them they can but i know for a fact that no repairer is going to go against his colleague so I already know what the answer will be hey they might surprise me but I won't hold my breathe

Caution in dealing with Telegistics.

I was told by them my htc sensation was beyond repair after the screen was cracked.
I asked them to simply replace the glass(digitiser) and they said they couldn't and demanded payment for looking at it.

I ended up ordering one(for around $40) and replacing it myself.
Telegistics will never get their requested $80 service fee from me.

Moral of the story ....

Do not trust that Telegistics even know what they are doing.

Actually got a press release from Liquipel last week - they are opening Australia operations now.
