I have the Mi 4i nice phone but the interface is too iPhone looking. No app or widget draw. Even using a new launcher only gives you the app draw. The hardware id nice though and the price..
It looks quite compelling. It'd be interesting to hear about the battery life. The price point is very appealing, I'd be tempted to get one if I saw a few good non-pimpesque reviews.
I have no experience with any of them, but I see them around online.
Xiaomi boasts some impressive specs for the price.
And some lenovo phone seem to cater for the lower end, without sacrificing much spec wise.
If I was in the market for an android phone, the chinese market would be where I went. There are also some phablets by some of the chinese tablet manufacturers around 6.4-6.5 inch.
With Motorola's inability/reluctance or whatever to supply the NZ market with a 16GB Moto G I've started looking at these alternatives (as a first smartphone). Which bands/networks should I be looking for to guarantee it works in (rural south island) NZ? As I said I'm new to smartphones so haven't kept up with the network technology. Looking at maybe the elephone p7000 or p8000? Thanks!

Most phones sold don't cover the band 28 requirement which will be needed for good rural LTE in the future as the 4g rollout continues.

I think we can assume that roll out will take a long time. Atm its only major cities. If you purchased a phone for its LTE capability now, it could be years before it could be utilised at all.
2degrees falls back on 2g in rural areas yes? Whereas telecom and vodafone don't? In my limited recollection I seem to recall that vodafones 3g coverage rurally is much better. Skinny which is the same network/frequencies as telecom (same company), is similar, it has bad rural coverage.
I think thats the info this person requires, which networks have faster speeds right now (3g), in his location, and then they can look for the frequencies of that network in a new phone.
