Yes, you will be surprised how much easier it is to use than a front facing one.

You might want to google as I don't have an answer but I would expect them to be encrypted as bank apps also use this to open their apps

I am aware of that currently having an S7 edge and a bit disappointed that they only have IP53. I was really looking forward to this phone. In saying that I am trying to look at it in a positive way that it has something rather than no protection. 

 

 

Most newish smartphones are probably around IP53 anyway, even if they haven't been tested or certified as such.

 

 

 

 

And they will find a way to decline the warranty too if there is a potential water damage because of that lack of certification. Nonetheless not up to marks standards right now and given the price point it will launch at would have been nice to have IP67/68.

I don't have a problem with someone getting sued like that. Waterproof but not covered. Same with Canon camera/lenses actually. That's because the waterproofing depends on user and the seals. If user drops it to the bottom of the ocean (unlikely) and claim 5 sec 1 foot dump. Or the seal's been opened by curious george. Very difficult for the manufacturer. But if they advertise something water proof it's their problem, not the consumer.

I think the term is water and dust resistant not water proof.

I have heard today that Google will be selling direct via their online store, and that no telcos in NZ will be taking the Pixel as it's been promised to Telstra as an exclusive for Australasia.

Subject to change, but certainly seems short-sighted at first glance.

Blah I hate that, Sell an exclusive to "Australasia" yet Telstra is not in NZ and we have 2 different google stores.

Either treat us as 1 region with 1 google store or 2 regions, not some kind of mad mix up of the 2.

I've done a bit of a U-turn on the Pixel. While I’m fully on board with Google’s new approach to building and supporting high quality android hardware, they have simply under-spec’ed their first offering relative to price. While the software experience looks great, the hardware is basically a re-worked HTC 10, with only half the speakers, and priced around $500 higher. Now looking 12 months out to 2017!
