Damn, it looks like the handsets are $100 more than the S7 models at launch. $1299 for the S8. $1499 for the plus.
Probably some cost recovery added for the Note 7 debacle ...
Still waiting for the refurbished units to release. Wish they'd hurry up
Oh ok, sounds good. Im just still scratching my head as to why they havent given a release date yet, even more so now that the devices are already here. oh well, i guess more info will be released tomorrow :)
Pretty sure May 5th is the official launch date.

Nope, they said they'd have some units on display at certain stores, so most likely was.

Knew it!! Just didnt think much of it at the time.
All i can say, Hands on review, Didnt see much improvement from my S6 Edge..
Which version is PBtech selling?
Samsung has a bad habit in NZ of not release a non branded telco firmware. So I would be interested to know what firmware is on the pbtech devices.

Personally I can't work out what is gained by having telco branded firmware - why does Spark/2 Degrees/Vodafone insist on being precious snowflakes by insisting that there is a special build just for them?

Because in the early days the OEM's (samsung, sony etc) let them.
There are some reason to have telco firmware like Fast Dormancy etc. However a better way to deal with it is like how they have the carrier settings in iOS.
But the OEM's are just as bad by doing all their custom development to firmware as well.

I bought a S6 Edge plus from Noel leeming (Insurance) and they gave me a 2 degrees version with their horrid app.
Atleast it only came with the single app but like. Whyyyyyy

The world would be a lot better place if OEM's just shipped two versions, CDMA and GSM, with a universal firmware and none of the BS. I really have to ask what the OEM's are hoping to achieve by making things more difficult for themselves and their customers then again that would require them to 'think different' and apparently that is Apple's thing.

Because guaranteed there is some 20 or 30 something in the marketing department who obsessively talks about 'brand awareness' that insists on said carriers logo faeces to be smeared on every phone sold because god knows the customer mind suddenly forget that they're using Vodafone/Spark/2 Degrees.
It'll be interesting to see what happens regarding the pre-order because I'm interested in going to Samsung but I'll probably setup a Google email address since using iCloud with Android isn't exactly a pleasant experience - at least in my experience.

If you pre-order from PB Tech, you get a Samsung 256GB Micro SD card and Samsung Gear VR with controller for the same RRP as the phone by itself.

Sounds like a good deal - is it carrier branded and if so which carrier? is there an ETA on when it'll be delivered?

2degrees firmware.
The pre-order bonus is normally the same, You may also get more from vodafone and spark.
Just got an email from samsung, their pre-orders ship the 28th but you only get a free 256GB SD card with theirs (no VR)
So are all pre-orders shipping on April 28th instead of the official May 5th?
Vodafone's pages are up now. Vodafone Galaxy S8 - 256GB SD Card bonus with pre-order and free NEON
