Sorry, but for only $50 more than PB pricing I can get an iPhone 8+ sporting an ageing 3-year design with huge bezels.

Like, why would I pay $50 less than an iPhone 8+ just to get a phone that has smaller bezels, a headphone jack, a high quality DAC, a bigger screen that has higher resolution, better water resistance, twice the on-board storage (plus ability to add more) and a fast charger included (not extra like Apple).

And you try and tempt me by throwing in high quality headphones for free to boot!

Dreaming.

I know right.

Love the LG V30. It's a shame about its sub par selfie cam quality according to reviewers.

Oh man, I am so close to pulling the trigger on this deal.

My only issue is software. I'm coming from a Note 4 (RIP removable batteries, you shall be missed), which got one (1) major update (with many features ripped out, thanks samsung) before being left to languish in the security-only update marshes. It seems that LG hasn't even announced Oreo for the V20. What are the chances that the V30 will get Treble, so I can flash my own ROMs (and have them work fully)? Or even the chances of Oreo+1 coming to the v30 officially?

If only there was a google play edition of the v30 :(

Hahahaha, that got a good snarf outta me (snort, laugh in one). Wife looked at me with a WFT face...and she has an iPhone 8 smile

Placed an order for the V30+ via the Hamilton branch. After watching video and few reviews, ordered the Spigen Tough Armor case in black.

If I bought a $1400 phone I expect everything to be of quality. It's a shame they make everything at 120% quality and the screen at 100% quality (which is fine), and then - front facing camera - well let's pick some rubbish from the parts bin and stick it in.

I'm waiting for the LG V40 to have 3 rear cameras - wide angle, normal angle, zoom. And a superb front camera.

Software based apps can make even bad photos look good. I don’t take a lot of selfies. I do take a lot of photos in general from main camera. An future firmware update can possibly also fix the front camera quality images.

The question is whether it is poor front cam hardware or not. If it can be resolved by software then that would make me seriously consider the V30.

@NikT, just wondering are you guys going to be selling cases for the V30+ soon?
Would be nice to have something to protect it when we pick them up. :)

I wonder how good the camera is like, especially the "portrait mode" compared to the Iphone X. I looked quite a bit for an app which could do similar portrait shots with reasonable amount of background blur/bokeh but not much luck. iPhone X portrait photos straight out of the camera somehow looks almost MILC/DSLR like.

Of course it is software simulated blur/bokeh but looks reasonably non-fake/non-processed.

Those have already dropped in price. :)

Demo units will be displayed in the larger PB stores later on this week, I'll give everyone a heads up once that's a done thing.

Any chance the Nillkin super frosted shield case for LG V30 in black will be one of the cases available on launch?

Hi  Nik

Would you guys be getting the V30 as well? Or just the V30+

Thanks

Edit: Ignore that, according to the PBTech chat person v30 is highly unlikely to be coming. Also I mistakedly thougth that v30 will be smaller in size like s8 and s8 plus.
