Geektastic:

Mine updated a week or so ago but frankly it looks the same and since I have yet to change anything from out of the box I can't see it will make much difference to me what they load as long as it runs properly!

It probably isnโ€™t the update to Oreo, the home screen on Oreo looks significantly different to Nougat, plus Oreo isnโ€™t available for NZ yet so you can expect another update for your TV over the coming weeks.

corksta: Not long to go! This from Sony NZ:
https://www.sony.co.nz/electronics/support/articles/00204015

Looks like the 2016 models aren't getting much love (yet). The article mentions X8000D and X8300D, but no X8500D and none of the 9000 series.

Hopefully Sony haven't given up on the higher-spec 2016 models yet!

X8500D and 9000D series run on older ATV1 platform (same as X8500C series) and X8000D and even the 7000D series on ATV2 (it doesn't make sense I know).

The chance of seeing major OS updates on older ATV1 platform is pretty slim.

This is what I have, I think it's the bottom of the range in line to get the Oreo update.

Sony always releases updates for all the series together, you'd get it with 900F I'd say.

I have the 65X9000F. Took about 30 mins to complete the update. It did not like my NTFS formatted drive so transferred the update file to my FAT32 one. Looks like the package enabled some of the apps that I have already disabled before e.g. Google Music and Movies. Layout have changed completely. Additional bars referred to as channels were added by default but easy enough to turn off. A bit of stutter when moving around but not sure if its because its updating the other apps in the background e.g. Netflix. Will play around more over the weekend.

Well the 43" Android 4K TV feeding a Panasonic Surround Sound BluRay system via HDMI / ARC is still buggered for Sound / Picture Sync!

(There is no negative audio delay of course - pictures appear before the sound!)

NO improvement with this update!

Have to feed the TV via a Freeview box via HDMI, and then the sound and pictures are synced!

I thought a big issue that held up this update was the discovery of some hdmi audio connections that went to sleep after a period and didn't wake back up again afterwards.

Are there any audio options to adjust the delay/add delay too the picture, either on the TV or sound bar?
Sound bar wise you'd want to enable as fast a pass through option as possible, so no intermediate processing etc that could slow it down.

Could you try connecting the TV via optical instead?

Ours is a KD-55X8500D.

I can't even see the button to force the update check any more. I'm sure there used to be one!

Edit. Found it. Now hidden under help menu. Says software up to date. Version 7

The update is only available for download to USB from the Sony support page  . The OTA update is not available yet maybe a couple of weeks away .
