Also Quadrant score goes to 910 so a slight difference over stock with no lag fix

What is a Quadrant score and how do you get it? I guess it's a speed test - what was your Q score prior to upgrade?

Search the market for 'Quadrant', it will be the only result.

Just did mine and got 883, stock.

Thanks - found it on Market, d/l'ed and ran it. Got 894. I see that the results bar chart shows stock Galaxy S just a fraction slower than my 894.

I just saw a guy in a video on the 'net running Quadrant on a Captivate (one of the US versions of Galaxy S) and he got something like 2230. He didn't say that he was using a flashed ROM but he must have been - but he did say it wasn't Froyo.

Would be keen to know what scores other Geekzone GS owners are getting on rooted phones? It's only of academic interest to me because I think I'm too chicken and not techy enough to root my phone - at this stage just happy to wait for 'official' upgrades to come through Kies.

I get 901 for my Quadrant score... completely stock rom that came with the phone.

I don't have much issue with lag on my phone. Maybe I haven't installed enough apps yet? If future updates make this phone even faster, I won't complain! :)

I'm going to wait for the official froyo release before I start messing around trying to improve the performance.

yeah I'm getting 2280 now with the latest lagFix from XDA :) runs a lot faster, think what was slowing mine down originally was the bloody "scanning memory" thing when starting up the phone

get the one click Root file from XDA or somewhere and run that, it's as simple as putting your phone in Debug mode, connecting via USB, running the one click application, clicking unlock and restarting :)

Then get the lag fix, run lagfixme.bat and it'll ask you on the phone if you want to do it, click allow and it's done. About 20 seconds for each one

Reversing each is fast too, run unlagfixme first, then run unroot me and it goes back to locked

Probably biggest risk is accidentally tripping over your plugged in USB cable, powercut or flashing the wrong firmware. Don't think anyone here on Geekzone has properly bricked their phone yet :)

I commented before that my gps could never get a lock. I added APN for 2degrees EDGE data, and since enabling EDGE data the GPS seems to be working ok (at least for brief test with google brut navigation). I'm guessing maybe you need mobile APN data for GPS lock, because I couldn't get GPS lock prior (even with WIFI enabled).

I think if it uses data it's called A-GPS

but what was strange is GPS on my phone could not work at all with EDGE/3G disabled.

That is nasty... it shouldn't be like that. Obviously an issue if you are somwhere with no coverage.

with EDGE/3G off, if i run GPS test app, i can see about 5 on avg sats (3-6) but they all have grey bars, and I always have 0 sats in use. If I turn on EDGE/3G then it finds my location in the GPS test software, and I have >0 sats "in use".

On 2degrees I could call #100#1# and it would put me through to my balance, on the galaxy S it keeps failing, so I have to type the #100 and then enter 1 and send...slower and more annoying!

Anyone able to figure this out?

Hi Kilack, most phones are AGPS and dont really work that well without cell reception. Including the iphone.

The GPS chips in them are different to devices like Garmin. Its a shame really.

that's interesting to know. in that case my gps actually seems to work very well when using google navigation, never did i jump onto the wrong road or anything, it always seemed to be very accurate with where i was on the map in relation to intersections etc...
