Deanzo: If I was a betting man, I'd say it's a supply chain issue.

The idea that Telecom has some guy (or lots of guys) sitting at a table unboxing every unit and changing a lead, or installing some software to each unit one at a time just seems crazy to me

I'm not a betting man either, but I bet you're right!

bradstewart: There are no carrier startup screens with the One. The carrier supplies the customisations to HTC who roll out the updates. Xda users have also confirmed no custom startup screens, just pure HTC.

It may have already been answered but here goes....if I buy the Vodafone HTC One can I pop my Telecom simcard into it and have it work properly?

I am only thinking of this because I may be going overseas sometime this year and it would be nice to have 4G possible if I ever bump into it. I am on Telecom because of local reception issues with Vodafone.

I am only thinking of this because I may be going overseas sometime this year and it would be nice to have 4G possible if I ever bump into it. I am on Telecom because of local reception issues with Vodafone.

Yes. Telecom version gets 4G enabled in Oct.

Just wait, they will set a date, it will be delayed a day or two and there will be an outcry about the terrible marketing and how 6 figure salaried management should be held to account, preferably by being burned at the stake! There will be cries about how this will affect the companies long term prospects and their place in the market!

VF Lambton Quay have sold out, but have a demonstrator in store. Just had a play and my suspicions have been confirmed. HTC have emerged from the wilderness and produced the best looking handset in the history of the telephone. Period.

Quick trip to JB on Queen St at lunch, and now I have my new toy! Sales guy was a bit mean... told me they'd sold out, even though I'd had one put aside. I must have looked pretty horrified, lol.

Happy to report that the transfer from my old HTC Sensation XE was a completely seamless experience. The HTC Transfer Tool is awesome!

Went into Noel Leemings in Tauranga at mid day to force them into getting me something concrete to work with, spoke to the manager and the phone kids behind the counter and they rung Brightstar again to ask for an update.

According to Brightstar there is no confirmed date for shipping at all and if they had to guess, it would be late next week

Went into JB Hi-fi at Bayfair and they agreed to price match but only to $949 which is obviously useless given I got two at $800 each

Crying a bit now, especially after actually holding the HTC One and comparing it to the S4
