I was initially dissapointed with no SD card, but now that i only recently found that there is a 64gb available, it might just do the trick.

Whats your opinion, do you think it would be enough for 2 yrs use?

Also this model isnt available for Aus/ NZ. So wondering were to get it from, I dont want to get pinged for GST.

Any advice,

I been looking for a 64GB version too, can't find one anywhere. Why the hell would you not make that available? Samsung make some real thick decisions.

so true, i have located them in usa, but by the time you pay frieght, gst, gst on frieght, and your arm and leg its costs about 1600$ roughly, which is a bit on the high side..

I think upto $1200 is reasonable, but even then thats expensive if you compare it with what similar android phones sell for.

I'd be happy with $1200. It's expensive, but does any other Android phone give the same camera, screen, battery life, performance and features for less? Sure there are other phones that can match the camera (LG G4) and the battery (Sony). The screen is unrivaled and the performance is bettered only by pure android phones.

i think its a brilliant phone ...... must say i was disappointed with the no sd card slot, but after my trip to London taken heaps of videos and pics i ve still got 4gb left.

8GB apps and 9GB of pics and videos .720 pictures 70 1m to 2m videos all 1080p

On the contrary - ranging decisions are made based on very good data...like how much demand there was for 64 & 128GB S6/S6 edge units.

Just to address this for a sec:

Sure, there'll always be power users and people who want higher capacities - I'm one of those myself - but they absolutely would not have been willing to pay for them at the expected prices in large enough quantities for it to have been worthwhile to range the 64GB Note 5 at mass market in NZ. The Note is already a niche product despite how many of them can be seen day to day. Bear in mind that Samsung knows exactly how many boxes of each SKU have shipped, and network operators know how many of any given device are active on their networks including parallel imports, and that NZ consumer behaviour does not trend towards Jane or Joe Bloggs spending $1449+ on a new smartphone (that doesn't have an Apple logo on it) near Christmas.

2d picked up the S6 edge+ in 64GB and it was selling for the same price as the 32GB through Noels. Wow, you might well think, that's a great deal, there is clearly demand - except someone has to pay for those sorts of deals to happen, and demand does not equate to profitability. When prices drop, someone has to pay for that as well, it's not a thing that just happens - the cost of existing units in warehouses doesn't change, and someone has to foot the bill for that.

The biggest learning I've taken from working in a devices team for the last year is that consumer perception of the smartphone market is not at all aligned to commercial realities. It sucks, because products I absolutely love will not see uptake in NZ. They have to be the right price at the right time with the right marketing and enough funding behind them to either get them to a good subsidy level on a plan/add a compelling gift with purchase/market the hell out of them in order to fly. Everyone has good products. Having a good product is not enough.

Want to know why you don't see many Motorola or LG phones in NZ? They aren't willing to spend the money required to market their own brands.

all valid points, but what is stopping parallel importers to bring the 64gb in , is what boggles me .

is samsung restricting this model be available in only few regions ? am sure HK / Aus would be one of them !!

I am quite keen on the model but the whole process of getting one seems so complicated ( with limited options , eg bringing them from usa paying gst etc ) , it kinda puts me off buying the phone itself !

Its fair that samsung did their own research n what not and didnt bring in 64gb, fair enough, but they could have atleast left the SD card option to 200gb. i think this is the very least i expect !!!

i quite like the z5 premium, but then i am so used to the stylus, i dont want a phone without one.

Its so complicated !!!!!

I just picked up one of these last week, as an upgrade from my Note 3. Such a nice phone, really pleased with it. The non-removeable battery & non-SD Card were considerations, but not enough to care about them not being present.

I'm now looking for a good case, or rather, a good tempered glass screen protector.

Has anybody got one and can say good things about it? I've seen a number of brands and contradicting reviews about most of them. Mostly about how they aren't cut right and are the wrong size.

I've always found the iloome glass screen protector the best. I have a note 2 which has a curved edge screen like the 5.

Yeah iloome is one brand I know of.. I have one of theirs on my former note 3 and was very good. Just looking at local options as the US$ isn't very good at the moment... it really adds to the import costs
