Kopkiwi:

Dayum, based on reviews they really can't justify the price for the XL 2, horrible audio output, no USB C headphones included, poor screen.

I haven't seen horrible audio output? the OG Pixel had that and apparently it's been fixed.

Also, the no headphones in the box complaint has always puzzled me. Why would anyone use mediocre freebie head/earphones when most people already own a pair? Or is this just me with my Sennheiser earbuds??

read the reviews and still want one. sRGB display be dammed...

I've always used the included headphones. They've often got a mic on them and are great for hands free.

I can't understand why people buy Sennheiser stuff myself. You're still listening in environments with noise all around you. Spend the money on decent speakers @ home.

what's peoples thoughts about 128GB or 64GB storage? if you have free google photos storage is it worth it to spend the extra $150 or so for the bigger option...? Part of me says do it once and do it right, but money doesn't grow on tree's (for me anyways)

If I look at my 128GB Pixel, I've got only 51G free.  I take heaps of HD videos of the kids though and I like to keep them around on my phone to play, even though it's all backed up to Google Photos, you get better quality if you play the full version vs stream it from Photos. (You can of course still download the original)

But 64GB is probably enough for most people, I know I could get away with it if I nuked a few of these recorded videos, and offline netflix videos etc.

I have the 64GB N6P and have found that to be plenty of storage - I've never run close. I have a bit of Spotify music synced, but not heaps, I take plenty of photos and a few short videos - they get removed to my PC about once every 2 months. I pretty much always view the Google Photos versions on my phone because they're all there and easy to search. I'll definitely be going with 64GB again if they ever turn up in NZ. But given the likelihood of that being before Christmas, I'm going to need to put my N6P in for warranty battery replacement to keep me going till then.

Can't seem to edit my post - should have read "remove photos to my PC about once every '6' months"

Fair enough.

My disclaimer is that I don't buy expensive ones, but a pair of the ones at around $100 seem to last at least five years for me, given i'm reasonably gentle with my gear

Pixel 2 and 2 XL are now available for order on the Australian Google Store and at JBHI.com.au

Pixel 2 64GB - $1079AUD ($1210 NZD)

Pixel 2 128GB - $1229AUD ($1376 NZD)

Pixel 2 XL 64GB - $1399AUD ($1567 NZD)

Pixel 2 XL 128GB - $1549AUD ($1735 NZD)

They clearly don't want to sell many of these down this way with those ridiculous prices!  Looks like I'll be getting the LG V30+ when it drops in Australia in early November.  $1199 AUD ($1342 NZD) for 128GB with headphones included!

If Winston gets his way, they'll cost way more than that by the time they get here...

Google will not deliver to NZ.

JB HiFi might but customs would want their tax added either way.

If you know someone coming from Aus to NZ they could claim the 10% AU GST back at the airport then pay the duty and 15% NZ GST on entry to NZ.

In practice, how hard is it to claim the AU GST back?

So you declared it coming back into NZ?...What if you were already using it?  I'm not saying to not declare it, but would customs really check for a mobile phone?

If the phone is unboxed, charged, with SIM and some calls on it you'd be aboveaveragely honest to declare it.
