Got mine over the air last night.

No issues about 20 minutes to update. TV was turned off at the end which was a bit confusing until I gave it a few minutes and turned back on using the remote.

I have a 2016 X70D model

Spent a few minutes to arrange the home screen. Haven't had time to use much, but I'm sure it will just work

Nice. Pretty sure this is my model too. Will check tonight.

Funny to think I’m hanging out mostly for a less cluttered screen!

Once you disable all the channels you dont need. I feel it is cleaner than the previous one. I think I only have 3 rows compare to like 6-7 before. I plan to do a factory reset this weekend as well if the stutter doesn't correct itself.

Yeah that's what I'm after.  Presently the design feels massive bloatwareish, with lines for games and sony services etc.
You get used to it, but you shouldn't have to.  It's very intimidating for new users to find the app they need, given most people only use 2 or 3.

Stutter doesn't sound good though, so hope that resolves after a repower or reset.

I've gone through some changes to allow admin mode and the ability to side load apps etc.  Kinda hoping that doesn't need to be repeated, as I can't remember how I did it originally!

I did the update manually, and it finished very quickly, probably around 13 minutes. It's a bit slow to navigate now but now has a UI consistent with my FIL Sony Android OLED.

No issues I could determine other than the slightly less responsive UI.

I have a fireTV, I spend most of my time on that.

LGSAM:

Geektastic: Ours is a KD-55X8500D.

I can't even see the button to force the update check any more. I'm sure there used to be one!

Edit. Found it. Now hidden under help menu. Says software up to date. Version 7
The update is only available for download to USB from the Sony support page  . The OTA update is not available yet maybe a couple of weeks away .

Unfortunately, the 55X8500D isn't on the list of models getting the update at the moment. I've got this one too.

Installed the update just now on a KD-55X8000C. Again switched off at the end unexpectedly but thus far no issues. You can opt out of the "yes please send all my data to Sony for advertising and services" without any difficulty.

Some minor cleaning out of new unwanted settings required.

But... it's 7.0 Nougat. Not slated for 8.0. Swine! I was all excited there for a while!

Installed last night, boot up seems faster, loading some apps also faster, i use to have wait for some of the apps to start to load.  Not as bad anymore

Stutter/lag righted itself but still felt the need to do a factory reset after update so did it. Added the usual tweaks e.g. turn off Samba/Sony Select and other apps that I dont use. Also went to dev mode and reduce animations to .5x Also reduced the channels under Home and it is now very responsive. Will just do the picture settings tonight.

Can you explain a bit more about hose aspects please?

How did you get into the dev/admin mode as I’ve forgotten since I last did that.

Still not presenting as available over the air for my basic KD-55X7000D yet.

I don't use Samba and Sony Select as it just creates clutter for me. I also turned off sending data to Sony for "future performance". Basically anything that sends reports/data to anywhere like Google apps I have disabled.

Dev mode - Go to About then Build then click OK 7 times or until it pops up saying that you will now enable dev mode.

The animations are set to 1x by default but found out that reducing this to .5x addresses the lag when increasing/decreasing the volume. You can set this to off completely if you prefer but a little bit of animation wont hurt :P

Sony A1. Even asking for the update is nada. :(

Maybe by tonight. Reading the own risk bit I will wait as not gonna kill a 7k tv. If they do their problem.

I was on the same boat as you initially wherein they encourage to set to auto-update but then give this warning in bold letters that its at your own risk. But it looks like they have removed that notice on the website.
