There is no problem with USB connectivity for mass memory mode, its just a bit non-intuitive to set up, I've helped out quite a few people at various forums with that problem.

Yeah I found the same - does not seem to be covered off in the manual either.

Have you tried Launcher Pro Beta yet? I find the performance seems to drop quite a bit using it.

Haven't tried alternate launchers yet, haven't particularly found any problems with TouchWiz really.

Poorly supplied with widgets this handset, at least compared to the Desire with all its tasty HTC widgets. Currently trying to find widgets to take up the slack - I like that I can replace the HTC clock with weather widget with Fancy Widget - if you like it though get it NOW since HTC have complained and its getting pulled from the Market any time now (I used Apkmanager to backup the apk to my SD card though, will be interested to check whether it installs OK to other handsets).

Hi there, I also got a Samsung Galaxy S from Clove.co.uk. It was posted on Monday and arrived on Friday. Was shipped via Royal Mail and New Zealand Post. Didn't pay GST, so total price was 409 pounds. Am using Swype on the phone now to type this message. Anyways, great phone, glad I didn't get a Desire. Will do a video review this weekend.

I ordered one from unlocked mobiles yesterday, it is being delivered with UPS expediated shipping but now they have stuck an "exception" on the tracking info and say delivery date is like the 5th of july.
Paid a premium for the fast courier, should have gone with royal mail.
OF course UPS dont tell you anything about what the hold up is..
the first time ive used ups internationally and will be the last :)
Fedex are the best...

Is there any way of getting turn-by-turn GPS on Galaxy S?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Many thanks - had never heard if it. Now realise that I should have just googled more - strange how things seem so obvious once someone points you in the right direction.

Co-Pilot now researched and downloaded.

Lucky bugger, exactly the same day sent from clove for me and received a lovely letter from customs today asking for 100+ .  Ah well, once released will probably be Tuesday.  If ya have time for that video review :P

Yeah it's weird how customs are a bit hit or miss. So far I've been able to set up this phone with my Google account, download some apps, and give a few functions a go. No creaks, though I did have a problem playing back a 720p video I recorded. I'll do some investigating.

Regards GPS software, I have copilot as I had purchased it on an earlier Android handset, but Sygic is also available with NZ maps - tricky thing is its not available on the Market. If you haven't ponied up cash for Copilot yet it might be worth looking into, I might purchase it to try - address search in Copilot isn't well handled, so it may offer an improvement.

Man I'm so jealous of all of you who have a Galaxy S now, especially Waylon!

Thanks Nick, you're not the only one who's jealous. Kathryn hates her N97 now, which is funny since I always hated that phone. It's quite surprising that Nokia have continued to persevere with Symbian when it's just so dated, especially on smartphones. Even when they switch to Meego I'm not going to be convinced. If Motorola can turn around their fortunes on Android, imagine what Nokia could do.

Anyways the phone had been great, simply great. If you don't have Swype on your phone then I highly recommend you get it. It's amazing and makes entering text truly painless.

I'm gonna go for a walk and take some sample pictures and video. I did use it last night in low light conditions and the pictures were really bright.
