I'm contemplating selling my phone if i can't sort out my battery issues. For now switching between batteries (1 oem, 2 chinese) is starting to become irritating.

I can understand why, but it doesn't appear to me to be the phone, or at least not conclusively until you've tried another battery.

Do you personally know anyone else with a SGS that would let you borrow their battery?  Which assumes they get better life out of theirs.

I think you need to try another battery, one where it is providing the sorts of performance you'd expect.

I don't know anyone with a battery I can borrow. I have 3 batteries and all of them perform poorly with the chinese ones the worst performers.

My current battery life:
70%
12h59m since unplugged

Display @ 71% with 43m40s Time on
Cell Standby 19% with 0% time without signal
Phone Idle 9% Time on 12h16m
Wifi 2% Time on 48m5s

Just a thought folks.... but if the display is the biggest user. How many of you have it set to max?
I find that indoors I don't need max and use about 40%. And outside , in direct sunlight, the screen is generally unreadable no matter what brightness, so I simply throw a shadow on it... and it can still be readable then when not maxed out.

(Actually on some handsets, like a Magic, if you get sunlight directly on the screen they can be more readable. But this is a function of the transflective property of the display.)

I turn brightness to 0% indoors, 100% when outdoors in bright sunlight and on the SGS it is fully visible outdoors.

OK so can you get away with 95% outdoors?

Guess thats the point I'm trying to make... it's easy to push it up to 100 when 85-90 or 95% will do. And since thats your biggest power consumer you're saving, and extending battery life, with a simple change.

(Haven't played with and SGS but know Galaxy 580 and Desire aren't visible in direct full on sunlight without shading)

Yeah could probably do 80% or so I just use the notification bar slider brightness thing that the SGS has. Most of the time I am indoors with 0% brightness and my battery life is appalling. It seems I am alone though and may just have faulty batteries.

Hey fallen what device/firmware are you running?

Btw here's my latest stats:
48% after 15h22m
Display 81% (Time on 1h19m)
Cell Standby 10% (0% time without signal)
Phone Idle 4%
Endomondo 2% (went for a 30 minute walk)
Wifi 2%

This is on one of my chinese batteries. Screen appears to have such a huge usage it's insane, that's on the lowest brightness for nearly the entire time as well.
