Anyone able to tether via Bluetooth or just USB using Mac/OSX? What settings did you use?

I can tether fine via wifi but I'm sure it must be quite a drain on the battery. I haven't been able to get it to connect via Bluetooth or USB.

Other option is goto marketplace, do a search for RyanZAs one click lag fix :)

I understand this is being recommended as an alternative to rooting the phone, but the Voodoo lag fix would provide a better lag fix solution.

Also, if you've used this app to root the phone, is it really just a case of clicking on the green "Root Device 2.1" option (first) in the list? Does it take care of itself and all you need to do is reboot by holding the volumn up, home and power buttons together?

Sorry for asking what probably seems like really stupid questions, you might not figure me to be a trainer of software. Maybe that's why I'm so cautious :-D Thanks!

Hey Neets,

I used OCLF from RyanZA via the market. Worked brilliantly. No problems. I used it to root the phone as well - it works as you mentioned, just need to reboot and hold the keys down and it'll bring up a menu so you can activate the update file.

Now that I have it installed, I just ignore the notifications from market to upgrade the OCLF software, as thinking it's better to stick with the version that I used to root the phone, so I can use it to unroot and uninstall later on.

Once I had rooted, I installed Titanium Backup as well to backup the apps on my phone.

I've run the One Click Lag Fix to Root the phone. It says it was successful. I power off. Then I press together the volume up, power and home buttons together and I get the start screen.

The phone never goes into recovery mode. It continues to power up.

I've tried 3 times now pressing the same buttons but it wont go to recovery.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a sequence in which I should be pressing the buttons? It's as if neither the power up or home buttons are being selected yet I'm applying quite a bit of pressure to them.

I've just tried a 4th time and still no boot screen.

So much for getting up the courage to root my phone.

Do you lift off the power button when you see the start screen?

Try volume down instead. I just done the lag fix and took me a few goes to get the screen to load the update

No Super User, I did look for that. Sorry I should have said.

I've tried it with letting go of the power button but leaving the volume up and home buttons pressed when the Samsung screen appears. Still no go.

I've held all 3 buttons and kept them held even though the Samsung screen appears, and then it just flashes off, then flashes back to the Samsung screen. Keeps doing this. When I let go of the Power button it then just powers on normally.

Very strange.

Just tried the volume down button instead of the up button. It just sits on the Samsung screen until I stop pressing the buttons, then powers up normally.

I guess my phone doesn't want to be rooted *sigh*

Keep trying, I had heaps of trouble getting it to come up , same.exact thing you are experiencing, but kept trying slightly diff ways and it got it sorted. Vodafone supplied phone too if that.helps

It's exactly what I'm doing. It's the only video I've found where someone else has the Samsung logo flash on and off, and on again. Except in the video his only does it twice before getting to the recovery mode. Mine just keeps flashing on and off.

My phone is from Australia, it's an Optus one. There's no way they can stop you from getting to a recovery screen is there?

I'm sure I've exhausted all possibly sequences of pressing the 3 buttons. Maybe it needs a mans touch :P

Has anyone used the ROM Manager to get to recovery mode? I found a video on YouTube that provided 3 different methods. The ROM Manger required you to select to over clock it before you selected to boot to recovery mode. The ROM Manager seemed to be the next simplest method to get to recovery mode. Though I'd like to believe I'm just missing something since the 3 button method ought to work.

Anyone in Christchurch want to show me what I'm missing? I apologise if I've just overstepped some unwritten boundary by asking that question.

A lot of people with phones from Optus say the three-button combos don't work, and the only solution I've seen is to return the phone. See here for example. You can still get into recovery or download mode with adb, but updating your phone with this method is dangerous because if the firmware becomes unbootable you won't be able to reflash it without the three-button combos.

I have to apologize to everyone, Allphones, Samsung, XDA-ers, whirlpoolians...

After complaining that my phone does not have the 3 button recovery + download...this evening I found a way that works.

For everyone else that the 3 button pressed together or Vol up/down + Home and then power does not work, here is what works for me:

1. Turn off
2. Battery out
3. (Mine with USB cable connected to computer) Vol up/down + Power pressed together..until you see the Samsung I9000 sign
4. After you see the sign, press the Home button

Vol down will bring you to download mode
Vol up will bring you to recovery mode

Feels nice to know that Samsung has not disabled the 3 button thing, not in mine anyway, just different combinations.
