kiwijunglist: google "apps2sd", i have a feeling froyo adds this ability anyway, so you might want to google that and check, if so you might want to wait for froyo (only 1-2 weeks away)Cool thanks for that. All this firmware doesn't void my warranty by any chance?
If you want a good mod while you wait for froyo install "voodoo" (lagfix only package) for galaxy s, very easy to install and uninstall makes the phone a beast. Also if you root the phone install "autokiller" if not rooted then install "advanced task killer" Both extremely easy to install, basically put update.zip on the sd card, boot into recovery mode and choose "update" there is an update.zip for voodoo and an update.zip for rooting and unrooting. to uninstall voodoo you just create an empty file then when you reboot it automatically undoes the lagfix.
There is no point in flashing firmwares as it's much more complicated and Froyo firmware is around the corner anyway.

knave: Hi there all, I'm based in Melbourne now, just wondering if there would be any interest in buying my Galaxy.
I got it on contract around a month ago through Virgin over here. Would there be any issues with it taking a kiwi sim?
To be honest the phone is great, but believe it or not, it's a tiny bit too big. I think 3.5-3.7" is the sweet spot and I'm looking into a Nexus One!
Forgive me for posting here instead of Offers and Wanted, just thought I'd gauge interest and discuss any issues with transtasman phone stuff...
Wipeout: I saw a post somewhere in this epic thread where I can do something to my Galaxy that will allow me to store apps on SD card, instead of phone memory. Any tips?
Also, any tips as to how to transfer contacts from my old phone Sony Ericsson to the new Galaxy?
Cheers. :>
kiwijunglist: if your waiting for froyo, get advanced task killer app. you should set it to ignore the following process (phone, contacts, messaging, clock, widgets on your homescreen +/- calender if you use it) Don't use advanced mode. you can download and install via the market.
some other people with more knowledge may chime in here, but i think i covered the basic info you need to know.
Hi, I've got a phone that was originally an Optus phone. I'm with Vodafone and have had no problem with using it at all. If you're on contract, wont that have some implications for the person who buys it, like having to continue to pay your contract?
As far as an International Galaxy I9000, yes, it's able to use a Vodafone Sim. And apparently a 2 Degrees to - I don't know that for a fact, just something the person I bought my phone off said.

Neets:Yus! That should work. I will give it a try this evening. Thanks for that.Wipeout: I saw a post somewhere in this epic thread where I can do something to my Galaxy that will allow me to store apps on SD card, instead of phone memory. Any tips?

Can you copy your contacts to your SIM? If you can, then you're able to copy the contacts from your SIM to the Galaxy.
Go to: Contacts. Press the Menu button. Select More. Select Copy Contacts. Then you've 2 options. Phone to SIM or SIM to phone. You want to select the second option.
Cheers
