And hope the friendly Customs staff don't try and charge you the 15% on the way in:-)

The Pixel has no SD card slot right?

They want you to use cloud. For me the biggest user of space on my phone is photos, although my S7 Edge has a SD card I use Google photos and One Drive. The offer Google has for the Pixel of unlimited original resolution for photos is very good and certainly makes up for no SD.
Combining One Drive and Google Photos means my SD is card is merely a temporary storage until I upload on WiFi. I can easily take 500-1000 photos a month on my phone and more on my SLR.

Yeah, I understand what THEY want, but quite frankly that doesn't suit me and I have owned enough flagship phones to feel comfortable with my choice over their preference.
I like having my music locally where I can play which-ever songs/albums I want, without choosing beforehand when I may be away from my internet connection.
It's not a deal breaker issue for me that it doesn't have an SDSlot, but given there are a lot of nice phones on the market, I'm likely to give weight to ones with good screens, sdslots, waterpoofing, etc.

Not saying it is a good thing in general, it does work for some and not others that is why I believe all phones should include a SD capability and especially a flagship device. It does worry me a bit given what MSFT did the One Drive with giving then taking away unlimited storage. Will Google do the same or after hooking start charging.

Sorry, I possibly sounded a little unfriendly, I didn't mean it to be that way. I have an issue with cloud for a bunch of reasons. I don't really trust MS (or in fact many vendors) after the last 3-4 years and I don't want someone else controlling my content exclusively. I think flagships should have SD Cards.
We have seen some vendors force customers into the cloud and then ram 50-80% price increases on them year on year, it actually forced one of my customers into serious financial difficulties.
I record my games of squash, and it can easily 15GB which is half my 32GB which annoys me too.
I am actually in Auckland. I was just thinking of buying it online from JB HI FI Australia. I emailed them and they replied saying ......
"If you purchase the phone outright then you can put your own SIM card in it and it will work in NZ. You’ll only have issues if you choose to sign up to an Australian Telstra contract but buying it straight from the website will not sign you up to any contract."
So I am thinking of ordering it from JB HI FI and it releases next week.

yeah I just tried to order and couldn't get it shipped to NZ. I might have to ask a family member to buy it and send it here.

Don't forget the added duty and GST. Can easily make the ~$1270AUD Pixel XL 32GB become $1600NZD
true that. If it doesn't release by mid-November, i will likely consider Xperia xz.

I am seriously considering getting my wife to bring me back either a 32gb or 128gb black pixel xl from Australia next week for me to have a play with for a week. If I don't like it, any interested parties want to take it off my hands at my buy price?
