Have you experienced any of the two common complaints.

1. Camera pink area in centre of pictures?
2. weak 3G signal and dropouts?

I can see a bit of 1. Only at lower light levels. Can't confirm 2. since I am in a weak 3G area but will check it out when downtown.

So far am liking the phone but it takes a bit of getting used to. (upgraded from a SE P1i so it's quite different).

After struggling for half an hour with firefox and chrome, I was finally able to purchase it using IE. It kept failing on "step 1", where you choose the phone and click Continue. It would then reload the same page >:(

BTW is it just me or is geekzone one of the slowest sites. All I keep seeing is "Waiting for pubads.g.doubleclick.net..."

twistadias, that's usually badly done DNS in my experience. Try Google's DNS or OpenDNS?

It loads noticably faster using google's DNS, but it still can't compete with the mobile version of the website which loads under a second.

Ok - a few more experiences with the phone.

1. Exchange sync was pretty easy but as it has been noted, there is no out of the box calendar sync which is strange.  The iPhone does that out of the box. I had to use Google Calendar Sync on my desktop to sync to a Google Calendar Account (linked to my gmail account) and then the Nexus can sync with that.  There are 3rd party apps but this should have been out of the box. One gotcha - turn off automatic syncing or if you turn it on, check each  app that uses it. I just used defaults and it was sycing my Picasa accounts!  That would soon kill my normal 100MB data plan. I now have it syncing gmail every hour (don't get much mail there) so that also syncs the Exchange calender and no syncing of Exchange Mail.

2. Battery life isn't flash. I have to admit I wasn't sure I had charged it fully and it might have been doing stuff overnight when I was surfing in bed and fell asleep(1) but today with average use, the battery is almost dead. I have purchased a spare charger (USB and mains) off ebay for US$10 including shipping.

3. Could be just me but I am having some problems with typing and getting the right button pressed. I seem to be having to correct all the time. Far more accurate in landscape mode because the keys are larger. Not sure if this is because I have a Zagg screen protector on it

[ Interesting story here. I was at the Zagg booth at CES and asked them if they had a screen protector and case for the Nexus One and they said, not till next week. They then offered to show me how string their protectors are and took a sheet out, stripped off the backing and two of them then proceeded to try to stretch and break it. They did eventually but it took a lot of strength. Noting they had a stack of those protectors in their pockets, I asked for one and they said, it didn't fit the Nexus One. But I said, no worries, I can cut it. So I got one and when I checked against my phone, it just needed to be cut shorter and it fits fine.!]

3. I seem to getting 3G all the time (no less than my P1i). Google says my network is HSPDA - is that correct for VFNZ 3G? And in the office my signal strength is -63dBm and 25 asu.

4. For 3rd party mail I am not sure if there's an option to download headers only and then grab the body if you read it. It downloads all the mail and shows you the headers but when you select one, it seems to be downloading the body.

5. Mail has crashed on me a couple of times and the one time I tried to read a PDF it crashed. Will have to try that when my battery is better. Not sure what it does with Office docs though. Might need a 3rd party  application. The SE P1i could read Office 2003 out of the box.

Thanks for the update Ichiu7!

Battery sounds about the same as my HTC Touch Diamond 2, its just the issue of having smartphones. Instead of mains just leave miniUSB to USB cables everywhere and carry one with you, worked great for me in the past year.

With the keyboard, does it have a good predictive dictionary? I noticed that you can be really rough and XT9 or similar will still autosuggest the word you are really after. Treating it less like a normal keyboard but as a phone keypad (i.e. your expected to miss the odd letter).

How about the voice recognition - any good? I hear some of the UK users are having to put on an American accent to be understood (even compared to using it in "UK English mode"), much to the enjoyment of those around them.

I didn't realise that it was a standard microUSB connector so perhaps I shouldn't have purchased the thing on ebay. But I don't have any of them around so it's handy to have a spare charger at work and one for the car.

It does have a good predictive dictionary which I use. Also it allows you to speak into a field and can handle English (US) and English (UK). No English (NZ) but UK is pretty good. So for some things I can just say what I want rather than type it in.

A great chance for me to work on my American accent :D I'm sure you'll find the battery life will improve over time with more and more use, just speaking from experience with my magic, which I use to play music at work for 6 hours straight and battery is still good

OK found one major issue with the phone. It (and I think all Android phones) doesn't support Voice Dialling using BT. Found that out when I connected up a BT hands free kit and found I coudn't dial using it. There is a voice dialer application on the phone which is pretty cool but too many button presses etc. to use when you are driving. A major omission IMHO and something needs to fix quickly. It's very strange given that Google arte based in CA and in CA you cannot make calls from a cellphone without using a BT handsfree kit.
