Seems good so far. The NZ phones have a Vodafone-specific flash but I don't know what it does. There is no branding on the leaked JPK so far. It may change your phone's region to Korea though, you may want to backup /efs/nv_data.bin.

I've used Astro to search my phone and I don't have a file named nv_data.bin. I don't have any file with a .bin extension. My efs folder is empty [shrug].

Astro won't see it due to permissions, you need to use su in a terminal emulator or "adb shell", or Root Explorer. See this thread for example.

Upgraded my phone to the new JPK 2.2 firmware yesterday. Was good timing, since that release came out the day I was going to flash to the slightly older JPH, which had a few bad bugs. The JPK release feels extremely close to a release version everyone, its running very smooth, and I haven't had any problems yet. Enjoying Chrome to Phone (well, actually Fox To Phone), and Flash immensely, protected apps show in the Market (think Angry Birds), the new Gmail application is interesting too, the Music Player is finally perfect (no more crashes when trying to arrange by Artist), and the icing on the cake is the BT keyboard and mouse support (rather fortuitously my BT mouse also arrived in the post yesterday). I haven't yet tried the GPS, but people are reporting much improved performance (I've never had problems on any firmware, go figure). Samsung have kept their flawed RFS file system in place here, but despite 14 hours uptime now the lags haven't yet started, so whatever they've done for lagfixing is at least somewhat effective. Unfortunately Voodoo lagfix isn't available for 2.2 yet, but if I do have problems the One Click Lagfix is available.

Looks like the official Froyo release is going to slip a bit:

TMobile: We recently announced that there will be a software update for the Samsung Galaxy S at the end of the month, we are still looking to roll this out as soon as possible but have been told the release date may slip by up to a couple of weeks. Of course as soon as we have any more info we`ll let you know.

The update will still be made available through the Samsung Kies PC application.

The JPK release is good enough that I wouldn't bother waiting, just flash it with Odin. Will only be minor changes between this build and the final one...

Quick question peeps. My battery life seems pretty average. Everyone has said that this phone stands out when it comes to the battery life. So far, I have to recharge every 15 hours or so... Is this normal?

Sounds about rite, especially with medium/heavy use. Or what apps are running.

On re-reading, what I'm really asking is AFTER you've flashed to the new firmware following the instructions provided, how are you getting your phone back to the state it was with the apps you'd installed and the configuration of those apps? Titanium puts all those apps etc right back to how you had it after you've flashed to a new firmware.

I don't see on the forum where you restore using the nv_data.bin. TIA

Me again (sorry)
I've installed Terminal Emulator
I've given it Super User rights.
I've typed:
cp /efs/nv_data.bin /sdcard/

And pressed ENTER

The message I get is: cp: not found.

Does anyone know why, and if so, have I done something wrong, and is there something I can do to get this working so I can take a backup of /efs.
