DrD: Update to Samsung Kies v1.5.3.1009.31 is now available.

I just checked my Kies for an update but it still believes me to be on the latest one, which is not the one you've found.  How did you get that update?  Cheers :)

You have the latest.  A 3 was missing from the version number I posted.
The version should be 1.5.3.10093.31

Mine is 1.5.1.10083.  Your version is later.  How did you get it?  TIA

I checked for updates in Kies, and an update was available, I'm at 23% at present.  Will let you know what it brings... Froyo official --- maybe...

Me too.  It said I was on the latest.  Just did a search on Samsung Australia and can't find anything there.  Went back to Kies and all of a sudden it tells me there's an update available. Also now updating.  Cheers :)

I'm aware that Kies & the SGS firmware are different updates.
It's possible that updating Kies may allow a firmware update as others [in Germany] have noticed.

Well how stupid. It tells me the Internet is not connected so it can't download. Obviously the Internet is connected [rolls eyes].

@DrD - keep us posted then, latest rumours suggest Froyo is delayed till end of Oct for most i9000 users/countries.

Neets - Kies _Always_ says that - the timeout code in th kies needs a rewrite.
Just keep clicking...
I haven't found a direct download for it yet.

Others on the XDA forums are saying there's no firmware update after upgrading Kies.  Will soon see and report back.

As to my earlier link, too quick with the typing and not enough time looking at the file name [rolls eyes].  That's for the 10083 file so not the latest one.

Neets: Me again (sorry)
I've installed Terminal Emulator
I've given it Super User rights.
I've typed:
cp /efs/nv_data.bin /sdcard/

And pressed ENTER

The message I get is: cp: not found.

Does anyone know why, and if so, have I done something wrong, and is there something I can do to get this working so I can take a backup of /efs.

Thanks

Did you actually type "su" followed by Enter at the command line? The prompt should change to "#". You can check you have the right access with the command "ls /efs", which should show:

imei   nv_data.bin   nv_data.bin.md5

Apparently if you don't have BusyBox installed you'll get the error message.  However I've got Titanium Backup installed and I've re-done the Problem button which installs BusyBox (I'd done this previous), and yet I still get the same error trying.

My Google searches don't come up with any alternative solution (but to do the Problem in TB) so I'm stuck. Anyone able to help?  I need backup the /efs folder and these are the instructions I'd found (been pointed to) on XDA to do so.  Cheers
