Are they parallel imported? I want something with a good warranty.

Vendor has to supply the device in the country for starters - Samsung didn't bring the Note 5 here in 64GB, which is pretty much end of story.

There is a cost per handset for certification, yes, to make sure it works on NZ networks and complies with local laws and regulations (e.g. won't fry you because it emits tons of radiation, can make emergency calls, works on all frequencies as expected, et cetera) but it's certainly not that costly, and that's certainly not the reason the Z5 Premium didn't make it to these shores - which was a real shame, I adore that device and would wholeheartedly recommend it. It was just too many dollars at the wrong time of year. As for 'applying' to range, ranging agreements are a complex and ongoing process I won't get into here in detail, but it's certainly not that draconian either.

As for bringing a few in to test the waters, there are minimum order quantities - plus every additional SKU, be it colour or capacity, has associated costs to range (Think inventory management, retail merchandising, training, content, marketing, repair, replacement, all the things you'd expect here), and it's not like a major telco can drop-ship ten of a device in as a trial. Fundamentally, the NZ appetite for high capacity devices with associated higher price tags, especially over Christmas, is very small (You may wish to read between the lines here - these decisions are based on past performance of similar products as well). You might want a 64GB Note 5 on paper, but would you have paid ~$1449 for one? Or would you rather wait for a sale? Sales and promos through primary channels are great indicators of when a product isn't performing as well as it should be - and someone has to take a hit for that sale to happen. The same goes for above-average rebates on plans.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather have had access to 64GB variants of the Note 5 as well, I'm already running out of space on my 32GB after packing in a few movies. But trust me, these decisions are far from stupid if you're the one that has to manage the inventory and demand, and you know that Joe Bloggs won't be particularly keen on the upfront retail cost. If there was an easy way to supply the small, but present demand for niche devices and higher capacities in small quantities, you bet they'd do it. I hope to see it move in that direction in future.

Ive just upgraded from Note 3 to 5(Gold) and already have noted a difference to the better of the battery life. However Im not a gamer so probably not the same scenario as you. Bit Ill try and post my typical battewr life scenario over the next few days in this forum

Or you are a brand like Apple where people are prepared to spend $1799 as well for the likes of 6s plus 128gb and even add apple care on top of it for $229.

I have had a UAG case on my Note 5 since new 6 weeks ago and have no plans on finding something else. Good grip, not too thick and protection good enough. Recommended.
Works fine with wireless fast charger

Because they're a gimmick...its easier to pickup the actual remote, than load up an app etc...

In the past 21 days we have been travelling a fair bit. I have found many uses for mine, esp when hotels include a 5 button remote and you can't do something like change Output to HDMI 2 so you can play your playstation.

I have also found it useful when I forget my remote when I go away and take my sky box but forget my remote.

I don't consider it a gimmick!

Now if I can just find a deal for a Note 5, I'll be a happy man (NZ stock).
