freitasm:
I have received a reply from Samsung:
"[This] was identified as issue with Spark. The fix was to turn off VoLTE from their network settings and that should resolve. They have confirmed that this is not a device fault."
In other words, seems to be a network configuration - @andyb could check perhaps?
Ahh Nope. I started this thread about a year or so ago and I was on Vodafone. Had a second SIM on 2 degrees so definitely not a Spark issue. Yes sims were replaced. No help. I did try a spark sim but had exactly the same problem.
I ended up sending back my handset to Sammy NZ for a full refund.
As a result Samsung have lost our business not because of the fault itself but because of the dismissive and unhelpful experience trying to get it rectified .
I understand faults occur but this one is clearly a fault with the handset. It's really disappointing to hear that people are still having this issue a year on and still being fobbed off by Samsung.
Hi guys, I don't want to alarm or cause panic but my new Galaxy S21 last week had the same issue, the dreaded "Not registered on network" message came up and I had to turn on flight mode and then disable flight mode to reconnect. So this same issue is potentially happening on the new model too.

Batman: Re VoLTE specific issue, is there likely to be a fix on existing Samsung phones?
Batman: Is that an easy fix? My Samsung is itching to volte
