Mid February now - do we have any updates on pricing\release dates on the Note in NZ?

There's some very good deals to be had with importing, so hopefully they do a decent price.

BTW everyone, ICS leaks are now out for the Note!

First one is for the GT9220 (Chinese version), but Chainfire has re-packed it for our Notes. Bit of a hassle since Chinese bloatware + no Gapps standard (both fixable obviously). Samfirmware say an N7000 ICS build will be out tomorrow.

Naturally I will not be able to wait that long, so will update with my own experiences this evening once I'm done flashing it!

Actually, since I'm still up here are some early findings (and up to the minute stuff is always in my Twitter feed):

- In terms of looks the ROM is a bit frankenstein at the moment with a mixture of TW/GB/ICS elements throughout the UI
- Performance in general UI navigation is a big step up from GB ROMs, even custom ROMS, and that is despite this one limiting the CPU clock speed to 1.2Ghz/core (because the i9220 version runs at that)
- Graphics performance upped a lot - 44fps in Nenamark 2 which is basically the same as the Transformer Prime on ICS (in other words, wow)
- Realised how much I missed some aspects of ICS since I went back to the Note on GB as my daily driver a while back, the task switcher is brilliant, as is dismissing individual notifications, the browser is just superb (and the Chrome for Android beta is also incredible, although lacking some nice features of the ICS default browser at the moment like saving web pages for offline reading and inverted rendering in the browser)
- Everything working fine, I had a couple of FC's when accessing 'activities' in ADW Launcher but I think that's because the Settings structure is changed in ICS and so the GB shortcuts point to the wrong place (ie not a stability problem on the ROMs end). I will say it again: this is already easily good enough to be your daily driver
- Inbuilt Google Apps are of course lovely in their ICS incarnations
- Face Unlock present and working in all it's novelty-not-security glory
- Voodoo Louder doesn't work on this since the phone identifies itself to the app as an i9220 rather than N7000 (apparently an N7000 native ICS ROM is leaking tomorrow)
- Too early to be definite but wakelock delay seems drastically reduced, now just fine
- Apps with stuff specifically for ICS work with this build, for example notification player controls for PowerAMP are present (YES!)

Logitech diNovo Mini Remote and Samsing Galaxy Note

I just tried my Logitech diNovo Mini Remote with my Samsung Galaxy Note, in a fit of optimism, noting it sitting all alone for some time now, and BINGO! it now works out of the box, including a mouse pointer! I've been waiting for this for so long....

How to pair? Standard way, search for BT devices from the note, press the red button on the back, the note detects and offers to pair giving a number code to type, type and enter on the keyboard and its done! Wow. Not sure how its going to go with the Car BT.

Will need some more testing however I've sent several SMS with it and pressed send using the mouse! (Yes there is a mouse pointer that appears on the Note!)

As I understand it they didn't work previously because there was no HID support in the BT stack in previous android versions. The surprising thing is this is on 2.3.6. Not sure who added it, but suspect it was Samsung?

Whats my image I hear ya all hollering.... OK I'll tell... XXKK5. (This is a stock standard image)

Gotta go and buy some Logitech shares, cause they'll have a run on these now....!!!

I'll give it a go in due course on the S2, you never know, they might have slipped in the HID there too?

Nice to see your enthusiasm Hinko! It's actually been present since Froyo on the original Galaxy S, you're quite right that Samsung added it (although the stock BT stack now supports HID devices also). Check my youtube channel - I demo various things with the Note including BT keyboards and mice (and if you go right back in my channel you'll even see me do the same thing with the Galaxy S in 2010!).

ICS leak already?

I've got a bond refund due this week and it's earmarked for a Note in that case. It only remains to be seen when VF start selling it in NZ, and if it's not some wierd alternate version, and not grossly overpriced, then I'll be popping down to JB and grabbing one, then ordering the car mount from Clove.

And a new ICS just leaked for the SGS2 as well.

OK thanks for clarifying, seems I need to hone the googling...

I note your Dell keyboard would connect without apparent issue. For the Note / Logitech combination to re-connect the Note (when paired) asks for a key press on the Logitech, however I can't get it to re-connect, which is surprising. Any clues or tips on that?

I might have it sussed, the problem may have arisen by pairing the keyboard with another device, which may have cut it from the 1st one, as a different random pair code is used. Unpairing and repairing seems to have fixed it, it may be the Logitech can only commit to run with one device at a time?

I've connected multiple things while connected to Logitech devices, so not sure what the issue was there. In general the Logitech stuff is always the surest bet for connecting to Android devices.

In relation to that Bond and Bond price: Ouch. Ridiculous. For that price you could buy a Note and a 64GB micro SDXC card!
