sidders80: having seen both the blue and white this morning next to each other and also the number of scratches blue had taken I am inclined towards the white. It looks good in white. People will have covers for their phones but I am not a big fan of covers.

I feel so teased!  Tongue Out

you will love the white mate.

kirip: So the 2degrees email has The Samsung Galaxy S III is yours FREE on a Pay Monthly $89 Plan with a 24 month term ($1049 RRP). I was just looking into early termination fees (as I don't need as expensive plan and will likely not be in NZ for 24months, probably should just buy out right).
"The early termination charge is the amount calculated by multiplying your monthly Plan charge by the
number of months remaining on the term of your Plan as at your final Billing Date, provided that:
for the $89, $129,and $149 Plans the early termination charge shall not exceed $500"

This would essentially mean that I could get the phone on the $89 plan and then terminate plan by paying $500 (I assume you have to pay at least one month so total const $589)

So can anyone think of anything stopping me from signing up to the plan and then exiting the contract (thus getting the phone for essentially the early termination fee)?

I can think of one really good reason;

It's dishonest.

At the very least let them recover the cost of the device back.

I am wondering, I have some memory about legislation around intent around contracts. I think 2D could argue you had no intent to honour the contract. I would check the wording.

If those are the conditions they offer then I see no particular problem in making use of them.

At the Telco who had them on display this morning at entrance. I just happened to be there so got the opportunity to see them.

It's morally bankrupt. 2D are trying to provide value for money and add competition in the market. Doing this punishes them for being flexible and pricing their products to your benefit.

I have no love for 2D but I would be exceptionally dissapointed to see people manipulating the offer like that!

I will probably just see if anyone will give me the pay monthly bonus of $75 for the $39 plan for 12 months (should be in the country at least this long) in conjunction with the $949 deal. But I was just wondering if anyone knew if there were any measures in place to stop people doing that (I couldn't see anything in the terms and conditions)

Just spoke to my WHS who spoke to Samsung and 2Degrees. They said there was a problem with 2Degrees and their hardware for the phones. Worst case scenario i get my phones on saturday at the latest.
And that the phones were with 2 Degrees at the moment.
Vodafone store in blenheim seemed to think they were getting blue and white stock in tomorrow.

Surely they'd be losing money too? I just checked the terms and yeah the most you'd have to pay would be $589 - $500 ETC and $89 for the month.

Surely our telcos are paying more than $589 a unit?

I'm still holding out hope that WHS will have my white GS3 in store tomorrow morning.

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

I think this is why Samsung recall the blue one back because of the scratches and it supposed to be scratch resistant.

sidders: have you come from an Apple background or had a white phone before (Not trying to be rude, just trying to measure).

no never had a white phone before mate. My last phone was a blue/black G Note and prior to that was SGS2 black. I had concerns picking up a white one too.
