No idea, it's a light scratch but the worst that would have happened is I put my cellphone on it as I am presently housebound after breaking my neck so it's not as if it's getting abused. It's enough to annoy me though as I am rather anal about my gadgets

FluentCoroner: hey guys i was looking at getting a friend to bring a nexus 7 over from the states in a few weeks, and I found this site. (nice forum btwLaughing)
so my question is, has anyone had any success bringing a nexus 7 over to New Zealand from america? as I wont be paying for postage its quite a lot cheaper, but will the charger work? also concerned about reports that some of them have faulty screens, but i guess ill just get him to check it when he buys

How much are you getting it for (landed cost)?
They will be on sale here this coming week wont they?

Read back the past few pages, a few people have imported them, including myself.

The chargers work fine as long as you have an adaptor.

it'll be straight conversion rates, no postage: so about $310 for the 16GB model
and stevenz yeah i see that, good to know the charger works. none of you got dud ones shipped over? I heard quite a few had broken screens etc, but i guess ill just have to risk it.
hopefully they've ironed out the kinks by now

Hey geeks. Just bought myself a Nexus 7 today from Dick Smith's. Unlocked, rooted and running custom Rom within a couple of hours.I have not added many apps yet apart from reinstalling the Google apps. Also added Skype, Viber, and XBMC for android. All running great.I will probably put Tasker on also and play around with that over the weekend. Interested to hear what others are running on their Nexus 7 devices.

I purchased a Nexus 7 from Harvey Norman yesterday, it is absolutely awesome.

I dropped mine in the carpark at work the other day, it was in a soft case with a zip so it lived through the experience with only minor battle scars on the bottom corner And upon closer inspection the backing split open a little But I pushed that back in.

Need a bumper case!

I see at the moment its only appears in mainstream electronics stores at full price. Any one managed to get a local deal at below retail price. Below $400 and I'd be happy (er).

Cool Google Now moment:

Googled dragon PC on desktop to check price of an item then when I checked my phone not long after there was a notification light traffic, 17min to 376 Riccarton road, which is dragons address.

Just checking that you held the power button on long enough. It takes a few seconds hold before it switches on. I've read a few people who have had a problem in the Whirlpool forum (Australia) but in NZ we seem to have escaped the majority of problems they have reported.

If you have to return it,let us know how you get on.

I have held the switch for up to 20 seconds, also when I plug the power supply in no battery icon appears.

I will be retuning it as a DOA

Hi kiwinz. Sorry to hear about your experience. Quick question. Are you using the charger and USB cable that came with the nexus 7? Just asking because I know some people have a lot around (of chargers/cables) from other devices and might use them if they are handy rather than plug in another unit. The reason I ask is there are a lot of issues being reported where the nexus 7 is not being charged when using other chargers or cables.

It needs at least a 1A charger from what I've found. Trying to run it off a regular 500mA charger does nothing.
The supplied 2A charger does the job pretty quickly.
