Is there an update to a new version of Android coming at some point?

Hopefully with the Flyme 6 update later this year.

Next question, which android? We talking MM or N :P

Marshmallow most likely given it's shipped on the Pro 6 and MX6, which still run Flyme 5.1. Suspect N is going to come to fewer existing devices than M has.

Current word on the street is that devices need to support either OpenGL ES 3.1 or the Vulkan graphics API to achieve Google's compatibility certification for N, which has left the Snapdragon 800/801 out in the cold. Technically the dual-core Mali T860 in the Helio P10 supports OpenGL ES 3.1, but I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Hey @NikT I see in the latest email from Meizu/Flyme that the update has been released for some devices (Flyme 5.1.8.0G Changelog for m2, m1 note, m2 note, MX4 PRO, MX5, PRO5)

... any word on how long until it is available for the M3 Note???

Link to update notice on Flymeos.com

Ok, it's becoming an issue. MMS that is. I don't seem to be able open MMS from any telco, regardless of the message app I select. Be it the Flyme 'Messages', Google Messenger, GoSMS, NextSMS etc...

The recommended steps have bee followed:

1.  Dialer - *#*#4636#*#* - Phone information - toggle DNS check - 0.0.0.0 allowed
2. Security - Data - Mobile network permission - Messages (On)
3. APN, check provider settins are correct. (https://apn-newzealand.gishan.net/settings/1455_4_2degrees_apn_settings_for_meizu_m3_note.php)

Another issue that's becoming more apparent, is a complete lack of responsiveness (for several seconds) when tapping on a link or location in a document. Scrolling the screen up and down works fine. I even had someone offer to return a bright red Nexus5 to me when they encountered it trying to read a news item.

That's unusual, no other reports of MMS issues with 2degrees I'm aware of, only with Spark. Mobile data is turned on, I assume? Tried using the reset button on the top right of the APN screen? 2degrees & Vodafone MMS should work as expected out of the box with the default settings.

The software build that's coming this month fixes the Spark MMS business amongst other things, should help with performance too. Suggest switching to Performance mode under Settings/Battery as well.

Here's a screenshot of what happen with incoming MMS on my 2Degrees Connect M3 Note. Regardless of which messaging app is used.

I have deleted and recreated APN settings according to various recommendations, all to no avail.

Does anyone else have issues with taking photos/video and their phone saying it is overheating?

Not sure if this has been answered before, I tried searching

But what is the difference between M681Q and M681H?

Has anyone purchased theirs from Aliexpress?  What was their experience

How many people fooled by the USB port.

I thought the USB logo was face up when plugging. Took me a few goes, and actually looking at the bottom of the phone before I worked it out. Its my wife's phone and she loves it.

Q = 16GB/2GB, H = 32GB/3GB.

There is also the L681H/Q, which is made in Meizu's new global factory and has minor hardware and software differences.

Aliexpress is great if you want something at some unspecified point in the future instead of right now, and have no use for local warranty or support.

Recommend returning this unit for a replacement under swap warranty - we haven't had any other reports of 2degrees MMS not working, and haven't been able to reproduce the issue in-house, so may just be something misconfigured. Sorry for the trouble!

Re: Spark MMS issues and updates: Meizu are putting the latest build through a ring of testing with all of their partners globally to ensure the fixes for Spark's MMS config don't break any other telco's. No firm ETA at this point, will keep you all posted. smile

Here's a Google Drive mirror.

New build in the works with loads of fixes - Spark MMS downloading issue has been resolved, and rooting will work through the settings menu as expected. ETA ~2 weeks.

Please can we have an update on the new build? Is it available and how one would install it on the phone?

Thanks in advance.

See post above - in rounds of global testing to make sure it doesn't break any other telco's MMS config. :)

I'm interested in this phone but was put off a bit by some reviews that said the screen was unreadable in sunlight. Can someone that has used one please comment on this? I play Pokemon Go and Munzee and both need the screen to be readable outside in sunlight.  For comparison, I have a Vodafone Smart Prime and I'm happy with its screen in sunlight.
