Looks like Vodafone will have the same upgrade for storage with pre order. They has a sign inside.

WolfChop: Snagged the Note 9 last month for $850 during the Noel Leeming/PBTech sales.

That's the sort of thing that makes the Note 10 for $1,700 a complete non-starter for me.  Sure, it is better in some ways than the Note 9, but the Note 9 beats it in a bunch of other ways and can be snagged for half the price on a good special.  I'd get an S10+ over the Note 10, or a Note 9 if the pen mattered more than anything else.

Clearly buying the latest and greatest will come at a price penalty and the Note 10+ was never going to be an exception to that.  It surely is not good value even if it is the best phone you can buy, when you take into account the price there would clearly be better options in terms of value.  I certainly wouldn't even be taking more than a passing interest in the Note 10+ if I had bought the Note 9, I'd be sitting back and waiting to see if the Note 11 was going ot offer anything compelling.

For me it is a bit different, I see the Note 10+ as quite a sizeable step up from my S7Edge.  The S7 seems to have such a small screen (only 5.5" - gasp!) compared to the new phones.  It also only has one camera on the back - how primitive!  The built in RAM & ROM seems quite small compared to what the Note 10+ gets.

Interesting fact: My S7Edge actually has a higher resolution screen (in each dimension) than the Note 10.  I'll go ahead and predict the Note 10 will lose out drastically in sales to the Note 9 & Note 10+ as well as the S10 phones.

Did think of waiting for the note 10, but I wanted a headphone jack. Plus it has iris scanning as well as a finger print scanner. Iris scanning isn't up to faceID in terms of reliability, but not terrible. So I got the note 9 for 650 new on that special.  Nice phone, not quite up to iphone standards, probably due to android not being as buttery smooth as ios to use, especially with scrolling pages, tap to top, swiping back to go back,  etc. But still nice, and a fraction of an iphone price The note 10 though is a nice looking phone, but the note 9 still looks great even if it does have larger top and bottom bezels, and doesn't have the hole punch, so the screen is totally clean. But the bezels IMO still look better than the iphone XRs thicker side bezels and notch, which is the other model I was considering.

klyster: I've used the Samsung military case on my Note 9 since day 1.

I can recommend it, it's been a great case, and the kickstand is useful.
The Note 10 version has two kickstand.
It's not a case for those who like thin cases though.

I have the same and it's great.  Only down side is that it's one of the thicker cases and the kick stand pops out if you are not careful.

Sounds like the Note 10 is getting (quite deservably) a bit savaged in press. So i guess that will end up as the GO in BOGO?

Like others here, I went and had a play with a N10+ over the weekend and while I definitely think specs don't tell the full story, I am struggling to see the value here.

Even for the +, @MarkH67 pretty much nailed it, if you have a current/ last gen flagship phone, there is precious little to justify the Rutherfords' here for you. And if you are upgrading from a couple of generations old phone, you can get phones that are 80-99.9% of this(S10, N9) for way less.

Unless you specifically want the latest Note, price-be-damned, I honestly don't know who they are trying to proposition with this right now. At least launch of the N9 last year, the N8 will still hovering ~$1200 and S9 was both different enough and still within earshot of price. But hey, price aside, its still a hell of a phone and I'm sure no-one who buys it will be disappointed.

People need to realise that in 2019, there is no "need" to upgrade to any new device. a 2017 phone can comfortably perform adequately in 2019. So i think everyone should stop trying to compare and justify on why they should upgrade from this and that to the note 10. If you like it, get it. if you dont like it, dont.  I myself just like tech and always get the latest gadget. so i pre-ordered.

Couldn't agree more. The thing is this is not so much as need (and to be frank, if we talk about need, we could wipe out most of the market), but value. The great thing about value is that it is subjective; the latest gadget has the most value to you and I totally get it. For me, I have to be convinced that for every dollar I spend, I am getting the most amount of quantitative or qualitative return possible for it. But sometimes I will throw all that out the window and just do it anyway, because what is life without a little whimsy as Sheldon once said. After all, I bought my last phone just because I was curious to see what a premium > $1000 phone experience was like after buying a lot of mid-range phones.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy tech too and part of the fun for me is analysis of all the potentials. Trust me, my wife hates that we can't just walk into a store and buy anything anymore without me ruthlessly researching and comparing options, finding the best deal etc, so I can get how for some people that might be overbearing.

I definitely don't mean to take away from your enjoyment and I really do hope you enjoy your new phone buddy.

I didnt mean to aim my comments at you mate, was just talking in a more general sense (like an old man rambling about kids these days  :D) .

THe "value" argument is different all together. A Oneplus 7 Pro is about 1200 bucks right now. thats 700 cheaper than the Note 10 Plus. Does that mean that the Note 10 is 700 dollars better than the OP7PRo? Fudge no! in fact in many areas its worse. For me personally, if the Note 10+ is borderline in terms of pricing. If it crossed the 2000 threshold, or didnt have the preorder bonuses, there would have been no way i would have ordered it. Thats why I have been passing up on iPhones ever since they made the jump to 2k+ prices. under 2k i can justify it for myself ! but if you tell me do you want to take the OnePlus 7 Pro for half the price of a note, i would not hesitate.

For me it's either the Note 10+ or the OnePlus 7 Pro. Like you say, it's like $700 and I am pretty confident the stylus isn't $700 worth, but I am still struggling with the decision. It's the difference between head and heart.

I would be interested in one of those wireless charging power banks that PB tech are bundling with the Note 10 if anyone gets that bundle and wants to offload the power bank.

Oneplus 7 pro is good however remember, no wireless charging and slower charging by cable now (30 watt needs a travel plug), oppo chargers are only 20watt where samsung is now 25 (included in the box) or 45watt if note 10+ (box still only has 25 watt charger).

Faster updates with oneplus however, the 7 pro got Aug security update this month faster than the pixel.

Beta's already out for android Q as well

When we talk about value, it is important to remember that NO flagship phone offers good value, and to some of us that doesn't matter because value isn't the point when buying a flagship phone.

A couple of years back I was considering whether a Note 8 would be good to own, but I was unsure of how I would find such a large phone.  I bought a value large phone to try out - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 for NZ$300 shipped.  I've been using this phone for the last 2 years as my 'daily driver' and I am very certain that the flagship phones that cost $1200 - $1900 are NOT 4 - 6 times as good.  The Mi Max 2 has a 6.44" screen and a 5300mAh battery - that is some top end specs right there!

I'm now buying a Note 10+ because I want one and I have the money to buy one.  Not everyone has that sort of money spare, but I don't drink or smoke or have children - that's a lot of money saved there!  I mainly spend money on the motorcycle and on tech gadgets, because that is stuff I like.  Sometimes there is something that I want and I decide to buy it despite a high price, value be damned!
