Posted elsewhere, moved to this thread

@xpd:

Had the opportunity to play with a Samsung Fold 7 this morning. $3200..... eep. I'm not paid enough to be holding this thing :D

Must admit, its a very nice device, very quick response, nice looking display, and the camera  - wowsers, the zoom @ 12MP is pretty cool not that you'd use it for anything serious.

I'm no phone geek really, so prob will be things that aren't so good about it, but I'll leave that to the reviewers/phone geeks ;)

Left pic is 50MP @ Full zoom. Right pic is 12MP @ Full Zoom from same location.

Flip 7 512GB in coral red is on a good special pf $1200 at Talk is Cheap (https://talkischeap.co.nz/products/samsung-galaxy-z-flip7-512gb-coral-red-new) so contemplating replacing my smashed screen S23U and always liked the idea of a flip... keen to hear from owners whether this would be an up-/down-/side-grade

I've been burned by the Exynos chip before (s20+) and not hearing great things about it, so tossing up whether it is cheap enough or wait for the razr 60 ultra to turn up in NZ

I am very happy with my Flip 7.  It does not have the bad problem my Flip 4 had, which was that it attracted dirt to the main screen, and then the flexing of the screen protector over the hinge caused it to lift a little and allowed the dirt underneath.  The only thing I would be a bit wary of is that the battery life is not as good as non-bendable phones, due to a smaller physical battery size (it can not cross the hinge).  I only charge to 80% for a longer battery lifetime, and by the time I put it on charge before bedtime it can be as low as 5%.  But the fast charging rate is very good so a short charge would keep me going if I needed it.  The processor is fine - everything is fast.  And it fits in my pocket!
