I take it these are only the 8gb versions?

Went into NL but they had run out of stock and have to order it in - do you think its worth getting the 16gb version from E-king at an extra $80?

NZ warranty.... get a 8GB micro SD cheap as.

I just applied my first ROM through ROM Manager.

I used this thread from XDA.

I'd been having difficulties getting Voodoo on my phone and this ROM has it all packaged. Applies SuperUser, Voodoo, 2e Recovery and I chose the "lite" version so it's ditched a bunch of stock standard apps (I presume).

Anyway, just wanted to report in that my phone is flying! I did have a few (quite a LOT) of Force Closes with LauncherPro. I went to turn the phone off and the FC's kept on coming, had to time hitting the "power off" click button to occur before the next FC.

Once the phone closed I went into recover to clear the cache. Since then I've not had a problem with LauncherPro and very happy with the responsiveness of the phone.

Prior to this I'd found even swyping to lag, so I'd swype a word but the letters weren't being picked up and it was jibberish. That was my motivation for making sure I could get Voodoo on my phone.

Happy to have used another tool that I'd been somewhat hesitant to use. All is looking good so far.

Since installing JPM froyo (7 days ago) I haven't restarted the phone. It doesn't slow down or get laggy like Eclair did. I've not even bothered to install a lag fix as the phone is pretty snappy.

I don't have a ton of apps installed though, I guess that helps, as I heard the phone gets slower if you install a lot of apps. I have noticed a bit of lag in the web browser on some websites... so hopefully Samsung keeps on improving the builds.

Hi lokhor. I'm not sure if you were asking me, or asking in general.

I've not viewed the Engadget page on my phone before so I can't make a comparison sorry. I'm using Dolphin HD as my browser, which may be different to the browser you use without having a different ROM. If you give me a page in particular I can time it and then you can compare to how long it takes for your phone.

Try pocketnow.com and engadget.com, make sure you select the desktop versions. Dont worry about timing just see whether scrolling feels smooth or lags.

Pocketnow.com is a bit hit and miss, sometimes it's smooth, then it'll lag (scrolling up, then scrolling down). Engadeget seems to scroll smoothly once the page has fully loaded.

Loading PocketNow.com actually uses up so much ram that Android closes my browser.

It probably took a good 2 min to load but it definitely loaded (full) the website. It first have me the mobile site which was much quicker loading.

There seems to be a lot of opinions of these phones over the net in comparison to the Desire HD (and to be fair, there isn't *heaps* of user reviews on the Desire HD)

Worth waiting for the Desire HD over one of these you reckon? They're a couple of hundred more than than the Galaxy (getting it form Clove) but according to what I've read support from HTC is generally better and the improved build quality and flash on the camera are an added bonus as well.

I've had a very *brief* play around with the original desire and the galaxy and both seem pretty good - mind you, anything is bound to be better than my touch and E63 combination!

I'm very tempted to install the Voodoo Doctor ROM. Sounds like a lot of work to go through though.

I already had CWM so for me it was no more than copy the zip onto the internal SD and use CWM to go to recovery and apply the zip file. A few more steps with the full ROM which I probably will do tomorrow when I figure which way to undo this ROM.

Desire HD is shipping now, many are receiving theirs - if you have any doubts I'd wait for the reviews to start coming in the next 1-2 weeks and then decide.

Really I think Geekzone needs to have a big "mobility-geeks" get together so we can all play around with lots of different devices :)
