I am tempted because at that price, it's not much more than buying it from Google and for me that would involve California sales tax if I picked it up on my next trip.

I wonder if it's the version with the little bumpers on the base that inhibit scratching the base?

Otherwise wait to see what the N5 might be.

God at that price i would get it

You can't get many phones with 2gig of ram and quad core for under $500 (if any).

Plus it's the best phone i have ever had (a part from the nexus 1, god i loved that phone)

On the good side it should still get updates for another 1 - 2 years so android 5 etc will come out for it.

Sorry for ignorance but will it only work with a 2 Degrees SIM?

It's been $499 from 2 Degrees for a while now, you would have actually got it cheaper if you used the 2 degrees price to price match Warehouse stationary, would have came out at around $475.

The Sony Xperia V is $482 at Parallel...pretty good package and with LTE capability it should keep you future proofed for a while yet. I also had the original Nexus, loved that phone (it's still going strong as well)

I could have saved myself $10! Excellent phone, glad I invested in it.

I was thinking of getting one for my daughter to replace her Nexus S. With shipping and CA sales tax, the US price is US$388 which is about NZ$490 so I might as well buy it here and take it over.

Arg, I got one of the first ones in the country that were at actual retail stores, not parallel imported, paid $799. Oh well, no regrets, still an amazing phone

Do you think if I get crazy texting delays (hours to days) at random, then it could warrant an RMA? The network team says theres nothing wrong with their end but can see the delays happening, the sim has been replaced and no one else i know on telecom or with a nexus 4 on or off of telecom has this problem.

Don't worry, i won't quote you on it, just seeking opinion!

Seems like a great local price.

People who have a Nexus 4: is it still worth getting in your opinion?

I have a Galaxy Nexus and I like the Android experience, but the hardware quality is quite poor and it feels like cheap plastic to hold. Is the Nexus 4 is a bit more robust in that department too?

Galaxy nexus = samsung = cheap feeling phones

Nexus 4 = LG, not as good as some of HTC's phones but a lot better feel than any samsung out there.

Like i said before its the 2nd best phone i have had, the only thing that was better was the nexus 1, i loved the little roll ball on the nexus 1.

Indeed.  Sort of hoping the next 'proper' Nexus will be an HTC. I know there is that Google Edition HTC One (and S4, no thank you), but they are still beholden to manufacturers doing the android updates at their discretion.

This does seem like a great deal, though not sure for a nearly year-old phone if it isn't better waiting for this year's model. (2 Degrees might be clearing these for that reason. Or, perhaps they are not selling many as there is no manufacturer marketing for it like there is from Samsung and Apple)

Just bought mine from WS, upgrading from a Nexus S. Man, what a difference. Same great/pure experience but no more lags. That thing is fast, really fast and feels great in your hand. At that price, totally worth it in my opinion. When you think about it, it's about 1/2 price of S4 or iPhone5 which to me are quite comparable...

Cheers

Thanks for that gcorgnet - sounds like it is still well worth it.  Might wait to see what the Motorola/Google annoucement is later in the week, but it's hard to imagine it will be a better deal than this one for the Nexus 4.

That's why I bought mine from a parallel importer rather than pay that rip off retail price..
