Just posted here about the new Nokia 6, announced today and available in China early this year.

Wow! Some good specs, until the snapdragon 430... Could be an awesome mid-range phone though.

It will be interesting to see how Google stuff like Play store is handled .

The N1 tablet came in two versions, the mainland Chinese version and the Taiwanese or International version, as the Chinese authorities banned the likes of Play store.

I find Android OK tho a little clunky compared to Meego and Sailfish. I live in hope Nokia brings out a Sailfish powered handset and Tablet.

Interesting price point - 1699 CNY = ~NZ$354 at current rates.

Looks like respectable midrange specs to go with a well known name. Looks like a good upgrade from the Moto G for my wife, when it breaks or she gets tired of waiting for it.

It might be a pain to use and set up though because of all the restrictions on the internet in China, so they may have removed a lot of the apps you would use on a daily basis. Hence might even have disabled access to Facebook directly from the phone!

You might even find your phone sending "anonymous information" to some chinese servers lol.

The International version of the N1 works just fine, no issues, I expect Nokia will do the same with the Nokia 6 when they sell it to places other than China.

In fact the Chinese version worked ok it was just missing things like Playstore but still had an app store. Just like the International version it was easy to set up.

I very much doubt Nokia would be party to any data mining that the Chinese may wish to carry out.
