The new dex pad is a much better design. You could use it as a mouse and keyboard, but of course to me the experience is a USB unfying receiver for logitech mouse and keyboard.

Dex now runs at 2k, Im looking at a 2 monitor that is ideal for modest light room work, has HDR and can run games.

The CH70 is HDR compliant, its specs arent at HDR10 but the 1000 nits is a target, CHD70 hits 600 nits in hdr mode. Its 144hz variable freesync. I plan to run an Xbox one X on it as I believe 1440p is the sweet spot for 32". It is curved which Im a little iffy about.

On the Light Room side, it hits 125% RGB and 96% P3, not flappn bad and plenty good enough for a hobbyist like me.

So that is my plan. Ive been mulling over notebooks for ages and now its appears I can buy my phone, hook it up to a class monitor and the same with X1X.

But all dependant on the Not 8 I plan to buy getting Oreo. I have no idea on when or if this will occur.

Oreo is already out for 2degrees handsets, still waiting on Spark, I'm not sure about Vodafone though.

Props to 2degrees. Are they generally faster than anyone with Samsung approval?

What if you have an unlocked model, who pushes out the update and would it be out now?

All the Note handsets sold in NZ will be unlocked. Where you buy your handset from determines which firmware is on it, and when the updates are rolled out.

I mean a non carrier model, all are imported, but yes technically Parralel import, unlocked is a common term for non carrier model.

You might have trouble finding your "unlocked" version. Have a look through this list to find it.

I don't know specifically but personally I would not put money on every parallel import being non-carrier firmware.

@TeaLeaf not that common at all unlocked means the handset is not SIM locked to a carrier

Anyone hear seen the Linux on Dex plans?  It seems you need the new Dex Pad to enable this.  I have signed up to the Samsung Linux thing, and very keen to see if/how a S8/Note/etc. could work as a truly mobile solution.

Af far as I can tell, the Linux distro is an APK, so not sure if its somehow virtualised or running native.

SIM locked to a carrier

Thats, what Im saying. So its not locked to a carrier.

Ive imported plenty of phones that are not locked to a carrier. Otherwise if they were you couldnt use any sim you wanted and why would you buy the phone outright?

Yes. And thanks for getting things back on track.

I also liked the VM to Windows, but I dont know how fast thats going to operate considering it acted like a dog on my 2011 MBP.
