Not sure if it's a coincidence or not but last night sat down to watch a few YouTube videos cast from my Android phone to a Chromecast and it failed. Reset the Chromecast and that worked ok but whenever I bring up the Google home application it doesn't show that particular Chromecast as ready to cast. So tried another Chromecast and had the same problem.

Since it affected both devices thought it might be a network issue and reset the router and also my fibre connection but that didn't fix anything.

Interestingly while I can set up the Chromecast, reboot from the app, it just won't show up in Google home and no device can see the Chromecast forecasting.

Before I head out and buy a new one just to check can anyone offer any explanations.

thanks

It's a known issue and Google are working on a fix.

Parents had the issue last night with their Gen 1 Chromecast, while my Gen 2, Shield TV and Google Home were all working fine.

Went through it last night remotely, trying factory resets of routers and Chromecast. Wish I had seen the news before trying all that.
