I have had the OnePlus One back in the day

Keen to move over to their latest handset now

The news about sudden battery drain has put me on edge about getting it or not so wanted to get everyone's feedback about their experience with the handset beforehand

The battery drain will be software related and will get resolved quickly i imagine. i got my 5T barely a year ago and already its two generations old :P i'm not looking to replace it yet

I've had my OnePlus 5 for nearly 2 years and planning to upgrade it before the end of the FY. At the moment the 6T is top of my list, so I'm keen to hear people's views also.

Right now I am on the edge with S9+ and 6T

They both have very similar specs & price point

S9+ has (slightly) better camera, better screen, 3.5mm audio jack, wireless charging

6T has better battery, more RAM to handle multitasking, in-display fingerprint, looks nicer (thats a personal view), gestures, double tap to wakeup and to sleep

I am leaning towards 6T at the moment

6T is also missing the notification LED, which I have gotten used to having on my phone so will just see how I go without it.

supero.co.nz for $979 delivered

It's an online site that doesn't have a good reputation here on GZ but I've purchased my S8+ from them back in 2017 and is still going strong with no issues, so decided to get the 6T from them.

Isn't the 7 due out soon?

They normally announce around May/June and so will be available around July most likely

OnePlus are usually pretty good at fixing software issues quickly. My wife's OnePlus 5 had a capacitive button bug which was fixed quickly.

I haven't had any real issues with my OnePlus 6 - it's a very similar device to the 6T and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it

Based on my experience with the OnePlus 6 I would check the camera carefully. The OnePlus 6 has a very good camera that works fine but I wouldn't consider it in the top line of camera phones. For everything else it's great and I don't experience the lag issues I have with my Samsung tablet (Galaxy S2)

Had 2 OnePlus 5's since Aug 2017, never missed a beat. Gone from Android 7 to 8 and now 9 last week. Still getting over 2 days on a charge. Ignore the OnePlus forum on battery drain as there are a lot of dipsticks there. That said, for the 5, increased drain does seem to happen sometimes after major updates, but then settles down after a few days. I don't have experience of the 6T.

Hopefully the camera on the 6T is better than the 5. But hey, it's a phone.

Watch where you buy from. It used to be that case that PB Tech included a NZ version of the fast charger, I don't know if they still do. The devices are grey imports so some of the retailers take the fast charger out if it does not have NZ pins as I believe they are required to do. This means you then have to go and buy one somewhere. Believe me, the OnePlus fast charge is brilliant and one of the big benefits of the phone.

Nokia 6110, 6210, 6234, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Huawei Ideos X5 (Windows Mobile), Samsung Galaxy SIII, LG G4, OnePlus 5, iPhone Xs Max (briefly), S21 Ultra. And I thought I hadn't had many phones - but the first one around 1997.
