I knew it was being made available officially in Australia, but completely missed the New Zealand announcement. Great to have another legit foldable option officially available, just picked up mine from Noels a day early. Comes with a free Honor Pad 10 and Honor Watch 4 via redemption.

Not familiar with Honor (especially the foldables), but how does its multitasking/mutiwindow features compare to Samsung's?

I know this will come up... so I will ask first.

Has any of the big three and/or Honor confirmed VoLTE is present and correct?

Gorgeous phone, somehow feels more premium than the Galaxy Fold7. Software is....severly lacking, am only on MagicOS 9 though so hoping the iminent arrival of 10 will sort that out a little bit. Even just little things like not being able to remove the homescreen dock and horrendous recents app task bar is annoying.

May have to look at a third party launcher.

I will say this though, the OS is fluid as well. Buttery smooth (and that's coming from Vivo OriginOS 6 which is about as good as it gets).

I cannot find anything pertaining to VOLTE @MaxineN

I asked HONOR PR about VoLTE last night, let's see what we find from them.

Any idea on how I'm meant to charge this thing? Doesn't come with a charger in the box and doesn't like my Vivo or Oppo fast chargers? Everything else charges it at snail pace and unless I'm missing something, you cannot buy honor charges in NZ (even though you can buy their phones)

I have good success fast-charging Samsung and OPPO devices using Anker and Saitech chargers. I'm not sure if their work with the HONOR, still waiting for a review unit.

According to this, the Magic V5 charges at 66W wired and 50W wirelessly and no mention of compatibility with other more common charging standard such as PD, PPS or QC etc.

The 66W speed sounds like their proprietary fast charging standard and since Honor used to be a Huawei sub-brand, maybe a Huawei fast charger might be compatible?

Alternatively, there are lots of Honor branded chargers on Ali, albeit mostly with UK/EU plugs and you may need to resort to getting one of these and use a NZ adaptor?

36 hours with the phone now, and I tell you what; Honor are on to a good thing here. This device feels absolutely premium, I love the feel of the Galaxy Fold7 but this genuinely feels a step above. The soft curve of the cover screen, the rounded edges of the device, it feels better in the hand than the hard squired off edges of the Galaxy Fold7. Even the soft closing "thunk" has a nice sound to it.

I was completely wrong about the software as well, Honor just have it implemented differently. It's probably the only device that rivals what Samsung allows you to do with One UI on a fold, still not on the same level but it isn't that far behind.

Couple of annoyances so far, split screen isn't great. With the Galaxy I could have a game playing on one side and youtube on the other and both apps would fit into their screen halves fine in either orientation, Honor doesn't seem to do that. Some apps also don't recognize they're on a fold, Gmail and YouTube being the two main one. On other foldables youtube will have a home screen like a tablet with a number of videos in a grid formation, the honor just has one large video in a scrolling format; really ugly. Gmail won't split the screen with your inbox on the left and the message content on the right; whereas Outlook will.

All in all absolutely loving the device so far.

I still haven't got this figured out, when you use the Honor dialer it has VOLTE on the call button but I have zero idea if it actually triggers it or not. A quick google search tells me Honor are quite weird with their VOLTE allowance, some regions have it and some don't, some devices will have it and some don't.

How's the multitasking features? Are you able to shrink an app to a small popup window like in Samsung? And if so, are you able to change its transparency level?

Actually quite in depth, can run split screen pretty comfortably with 3 apps but you can also have an app run over the top of the interface that you can resize and move around without issue. Unsure re transparency, I will have a play around.
