Looking for a compactish android phone, that has somewhat flagship specs and I see pb tech is now selling the xiaomi 17, which I am sure this is the global version.

Anyone know if it  has access to the Google play store,  banking apps and Android Auto etc. hopefully some owners can chime in.

The fact that it's the global version and not Chinese version means all those should work.

I am using a OnePlus 13 global version, Google Play services, Android Auto and banking apps works no problems.

I'm on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G and had no issues with Google Play etc.

You should be all good.

How's the battery life on it? Keen on it as it is available locally but not sure due to the battery life being reportedly not great.

I'm ok with it. The ridiculously fast charging removed any anxiety. 10 minutes on the charger and you're golden

@Cherios From Google ' The Xiaomi 17 (released Feb 2026) supports dual SIM functionality, including Nano-SIM + eSIM or dual eSIM configurations

It sure does support eSIM being the global version, although on some reviews of its predecessor Xiaomi 15, you had to change your regional setting to UK for the eSIM option to come up, but not sure if it's still the same for the 17 though, Thorak would be able to comment.

Interesting that Xiaomi Offline Communication.  If you can see them in BT you can walk to them and talk to them?
What's the use case for this feature?

Yeah hard to imagine a use case for that? Cell phone network goes down or something? No reception? But BT hardly has huge range so you'd be within yelling distance of anyone else.

The battery size advertised on PB is 6330 mAh confirms the version as global since China version has 7000 mAh.

Spec from GSMArena: https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_17_5g-14134.php

This is typical of Xiaomi where the battery size shrinks for global versions of their flagship

Went to PB and the models on display  did have an esim option. Doubled checked with the sales guy and he was confused as well to why  the PB website it didn't have esim listed, but on the gsmarena  did have  esim  listed as supported for global models. He did say some demo models supplied can be different for different manufacturers.

It was on special for $1366 so I took the gamble on it,  set it up and it does indeed support esim, can confirm it also support volte and vowifi aswell
