Engadget have broken an exclusive story on a new Samsung superphone:

http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/11/exclusive-samsung-flagship-phone-with-gingerbread-and-huge-di/

Looks yummy.

Either they've ripped off the MIUI custom ROM UI for the screenshots, or MIUI is based more on Gingerbread than we suspected.

1.2Ghz, a big display, and stupidly thin. Unless Samsung have found some amazing new battery technology, then battery life is not going to be very good. Unless their "sAMOLED2" screens are super-efficient?

4.5" screen! Here I was worried about whether the 4.3" DesireHD would fit in my pocket. I guess there's always cargo pants Wink.

I hope;

It will have a GPS that works properly out of the box,

won't lag,

and will have computer interface software that is straight forward to use.

Edit:  Magu The thread you linked is about the Nexus S.

No - this seems to be quite a different phone to the Nexus S being talked about in that thread.

Launched Feb 2011.
So VFNZ and TelecomNZ should have them available for Christmas 2011....... or 2012 maybe...., if the world still exists......Laughing

Speculation is they're one and they may be one and the same.

My bad. Saw the Engadget link and thought it was about the same story as the Nexus S. This looks incredibly awesome.

Yeah definitely because iPhone really patented the cog, envelope, phone icon...looks like the Palm III also copied the iPhone icons....

I fail to see the similarities personally, with perhaps the exception being the Settings button.
Can you provide a picture comparison example?

If anything, it looks like MIUI: http://noscope.com/journal/2010/09/miui

You may well be right, however this image looks a lot more convincing:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/11/11/samsung-nexus-s-picture-appears-on-best-buy-mobile-running-g.../
Compare with this device:
http://www.intomobile.com/2010/11/11/samsung-nexus-s-live-pictures-specs-specifications/

The sensors at the top of the phone look almost identical.

However, there's also gross inconsistencies between a 5MP vs 8MP camera, not to mention the CPU speed some cite as 1.2Ghz, whereas others cite a dual-core.

CNet's Crave site is saying the " ...images appear to be mock ups hastily thrown together for the sake of presentation" but they seem reasonably certain that the annoncement is real:
