Hi ,

Got one of these yesterday and loaded the voice  speech prompt set.  But I'm having problems with acquiring a satellite  for turn by turn navigation.  Last nite I got it working  and it took about 3 minutes to acquire a sat.  Today i tried it to get to work , about 6.5Km   but not sat.  Tried it coming home and it suddenly  kinked in about half way home.  Just tried it again now and 15 minutes later  no satellite.

Has anyone else had this problem, is it a bug??  I see some posts about this with the  Galaxy 550 and Galaxy s

Is there a solution as I was hoping to try it going from Auk to Tauranga tomorrow..??

Regards,

I found what appears a fix on this link

http://www.themobileblog.in/2010/11/25/how-to-solve-gps-issue-on-samsung-galaxy-3-i5800/

I tried it and now it now takes about 30 seconds to acquire a sat. Tomorrow will be the real test..

Not sure if this will help (because the discussion is in respect of the Galaxy S) but have a look at this thread that I started a week or so ago - it might be generic to Android:

This thread shows where the settings are and what they should be:

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Thanx for the links. The discussion there seems to be about GPS accuracy. I have found that the 5800 is dead accurate here in Tauranga and the fix I posted seems to work well. I have found though that sometimes I need to reboot the fone first thing in the morning to get the GPS to sync with the SAT..
