Is there any way I can improve the accuracy or calibrate the GPS on my phone? I'm at home and it's showing my location as sitting next to our neighbour's pool (with a cold beer in hand) which is about 10 - 15 metres out. Or is that as good as it gets?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

What firmware are you on?

I'm on 2.2.1 and the accuracy is very good.

I know there are various purported fixes at XDA, but as far as I'm aware nothing where there is any consensus that it actually works. I'd update to 2.2.1 if I were you - here are some screen dumps of my cycling tracks on 2.2.1 - in the third one I'm travelling from left to right, initially on the footpath and then crossing over the road, I think they look fine.

Thanks NZtf. I feel a bit guilty now that I did not google further before posting. Hunting further on the interwebs, I found this:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842694

I went into LbsTestMode and checked all the settings. Mine were all the same as recommended in the xda link, EXCEPT that my Accuracy setting was at 50m. I changed this to 30m as recommended - and lo and behold, my position is now accurate to about 3m. I'm amazed and don't quite understand all this - but it's great.
