Last week I bought a a Telecom SGS2 running on Voda. Most things I have got going fine but i can't setup MS Exchange email.

I have this setup on my Galaxy 3 (i5800) and it works fine on Wifi and 3G however with the same settings in the SGS2 I get "Setup could not finish. Activation failed. Try again with network providers default APN" when I go next..

The APNs are correct (they get set automatically when the SIM is inserted) as everything else is working and I'm trying both Wifi and 3G. The Galaxy 3 is Android 2.1 and the SGS2 is 2.3.3

Any suggestions pleaze??

I have 3 exchange accounts synced on my SGSII all worked fine - I have a self signed certificate so need to check the accept all certificates box.

Did you manually put the settings in?

I had no trouble setting up accounts with two different servers. Are you on Wi-Fi when you first start the process before getting the message about the default APN or have only tried to set up the account while connected to mobile data?

Yes. I'm putting in the settings manually.

I've tried this over 3G only, WiFi only and with both turned on with the same result..

Will try when I get back in to work tomorrow..

I have exactly same problem, some colleagues in Spain syncronize with no problems, but mine always says Activation Failed, unable to connect to network, try again with network providers default apn.

BUT I can surf the web, facebook, etc with no problems, only in exchange.

I've got the exact same problem with my S2.  It was working perfectly well with exchange straight out of the box, then I sent it away to Telecom to get the wifi checked - got it back today (factory reset) and now I have the default APN error.

I checked all the settings and firmware versions against a working S2 in our company, everything looks identical.

So I've left the problem with our gen-i rep - he mentioned he'd had another customer with the same complaint.  Hopefully someone comes up with a fix soon.

Seems like it may be an issue with some samsung verification process

Yes I have found others today with the same issue on a Samsung Galaxy forum. Looks like maybe a software bug in 2.3.X

seems to be okay now. Apparently the Samsung servers are back online so I was able to delete the Exchange account, turn on wifi, add the account back and it worked okay.
