Can anyone recommend (or even know of) a Cyber Cafe / Internet Cafe / Cyber Lounge to play computer games with a few friends? Searching online has been fruitless. The only ones I could find are (or were) in the CBD red zone.

Normally we would organise a LAN, but it isn't practical this time as it is just one activity on a stag do (cos you don't get to game once you're married right?) and only a few have laptops.

Ideally it would have pool tables as well as computer gaming. Somewhere near Riccarton/Spreydon/Avonhead would be preferable.

There's a cyber cafe on corner Riccarton/Straven rds, and another on Riccarton rd beside BNZ bank. Don't believe either has pool tables though, but Fox and Ferret is just around the corner and so is the Craic.

Speedy Internet Cafe on Straven doesn't do games (even though it says so on the window), and Dreamnet on Riccarton only does a couple of games like WoW and some other MMOGs.
We're going to have a bit of a LAN after all.

IMO an Internet Cafe MUST have atleast some form of counter strike to be classed as a Internet cafe :)

And if it comes to playing pool... I can strongly suggest against the Craic...
That place is a dive. Fox and Ferrett or the bar at the Riccarton Rd roundabout would be my picks.

Thanks, so do the Running Bull Bar & Grill, and Fox & Ferret have pool tables, or just for the drinks?

Running Bull has a darts board... and some hazy sorta blurry things that I think resembled people... but it's hard to tell... someone made me drink some Tequilla and things go a little blurry.

...um... yeah.

The Fox and Ferret has two pool tables upstairs. You cold also venture down the road to the bars in Bush Inn, but I would anticipate a trip to A&E afterwards to get your injuries tended to...

Excellent thank you.
IMO a stag do MUST have at least some form of trip to A&E to be classed as a stag do :) Just kidding, we'll probably avoid Bash Inn, it will probably only be more crowded than Riccarton.
