Sky Pod is now available to order (Sky: Products - Sky Pod - Overview). I looked to add one as a multiroom and they say, "We'll send a technician to get your Multiroom up and running at no additional charge." Seems a bit weird to do that for a Sky Pod, but maybe old wording.

When I originally ordered the Sky Pod at the end of last year, many of the emails I received had irrelevant text, such as telling me that they would be in touch to arrange installation.

In the end, they just couriered the Sky Pod to me with no other actions required.

I guess they still haven't updated the wording.

As it's the "black" time of year I decided to see what Sky had on their website. Nothing for existing users regarding the new box or pod. But I started a chat, and the CSR offered me a free upgrade to the new Sky Box: no $200 fee. We don't have MySky so we won't be able to use the PVR function. No biggie as far as I'm concerned. We will need to return our old (as in 9 years) box. But my cheeky request for a free trial of MySky was knocked back. :)

I have not seen the SkyBox rewind bug for a few days where after when you hit play it fast-forwards past the starting point of the rewind. Solid play from the current rewind position. Has this been fixed? (Or were we just lucky!)

I was just thinking the same, it was one of my major aggravations.

It looks like they may have actually fixed it! 🥳🥳🥳

Now if they could just bring back the ability to start a recorded programme a specified number of minutes after the start*, I would be rather satisfied with the new Sky Box.

*  on the old box, if you selected a recorded programme to play, then entered, say, 123, it would start 123 minutes in.

Gb Ethernet wired set up with the NSB will play 4k youtube just fine. But higher bitrates from local media played through the PLEX app (keep original quality) is not as smooth as on the Apple TV 4k.

So for comparison the ATV is able to handle higher video bitrates AND their accompanying higher audio bitrates/formats, way better than the NSB.
I’ve had the same problems with other generic Android boxes, whereas the ATV just plays fine”almost” everything..

Cheers CD

Saw that offer and accepted it.  Installed a couple of days ago.

For us (over 70's and definitely tech competent) the new box worse than the old one.

Called Sky, we can swap back to the old one.

Big surprise, not once did they ask why we wanted to swap back

There's an article at "Consumer" this week about the current state of the new hardware here

Sky is repeating the same viewpoint that the hardware is now basically complete, the problems are solved, and any remaining problems are down to user error.

Unless that's just a public position to keep things ticking over while they continue to work on it, it does seem to suggest that this is considered to be the finished product.

"Consumer" îs advising customers to go the Commerce Commission if they feel their problems have still not been solved satisfactorily.

Are the new device failures just a PR disaster or are they also a financial one? How hard has Sky been hit by this?

I am sure there will be a write down in the next fiscal return. It may or may not be addressed at the next shareholders meeting.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I guess it's a bit too early to tell.

They seemed to be doing quite well when reporting their last results in August 2023, and were optimistic about future prospects.

I hope they get their act together.

Please can someone tell me if Sky has updated the software in the Sky  Pod.

When I turned on the TV this morning the pod was completely dead, no streaming and when I pressed any key

on the remote there was no response. I had to unplug the pod from the power and plug it in again.

The startup procedure took a very long time to happen and when I pressed any key on the remote it was

very slow to respond.

I then looked at the software version and mine says 11.7.6086, I seem to remember it was something like 11.6.4777

Is this just my wishful thinking or has something happened this morning ?
