Jaxson: Do you have to pay for mysky, or is it the only option if you want HD?

Technically after live sport in HD only, as cheaply as possible.

You get everything for $59.

Yeah I'm after live sport only, not fussed about tv addons like SOHO etc.  Likewise am not interested in another PVR.

By the looks of the deals above, Sport (with mysky?) is $39.99 on this deal, and $49.99 if you pay for the HD ticket.

Guess I'm asking can you get HD sport for $39.99 IF you don't get the mysky box?  ie do you pay extra for a MySky box, and can you get the HD sports deal without it?

The deal I'm on is $39.00 (saving an extra 99c !). This includes basic package, MySky+ and Sky Sports. I doubt whether they are interested in giving you a cheaper deal with an older STB - they probably have plenty of surplus MySky+ STB's by now.

Discontinued after 12 months on this deal in December, then just rang up today and re-ordered at the same price. Went without for 2 months but at that price I am more than happy. Roll on Super Rugby!!

How did you re-order. Did you have to cancel your sky plan and sign up again as a 'new' customer?

Yep cancelled Sky after 12 months was up (actually forgot you have to give a months notice so got stung with one month at full price - i.e. about $130!). Then waited 2 months and rang the 0800 number again, they were happy to sign me up again at the same price.

It's the two month wait that's a killer

I disagree, paying $140/mth is the killer!

I've been off Sky for a couple of weeks. I'm ok so far. Stable. Making steady progress...

Been busy at new home, but all I miss is the F1, MotoGP and tennis, each of which I will need to locate a stream source.

The Panny Freeview BR/HDD recorder is a step back in UX, but it does the job. BWT720 I think.

I was keen on the $49 Sky deal after 2 months, maybe I won't bother, depending on streaming I need for above sports being of good quality and issue free and cost effective. I'm just not sure I can get HD that I am so used to.

Our 12 months is just up.  We installed in the missus name.  We have given the 28 days notice and I will ring and subscribe in my name and get another 12 months.

That's the plan anyway!

If you do the change between your wife and yourself do you have to return the box. I have a lot of stuff recorded that I haven't got round to watching yet.

pretty sure your account isn't cancelled until your return the box

You definitely have to return the box, that is the only niggly bit of the whole process I guess. But I am not sure if they ever cancel your account, or if they just put it on hold. As now that I have signed up again, on a new 12 month deal, I still have the same account number, SkyGo still works for my same login, even the Sky app remote record started working instantly.

I really can't believe more people don't do this, $50 for Sky, sports and movies is quite reasonable IMO. The OnDemand stuff is pretty cool as well with the new software, they have all the RWC AB games!

Yep - I'll drop the box back.

We don't record much stuff and anything we do record generally isn't critical.

If it weren't for the sport we wouldn't have Sky at all.

Had SOHO for the past 12 months and haven't watched it once.....

Bit of a turnup, Sky increases subscriber numbers and average spend. I guess that blows away the dearth of Sky often mentioned, adnnthe effect of SVOD

Can anyone confirm that the $59 deal is still "on" for new customers? (Movies + Sports + Basic + HD Ticket?)

Would this include MySky+?

Switching from VFTV as they won't install UFB at my address due to being in a cabled area. I was last a Sky customer in 2014.

Thanks.
