It does make sense. But the below seems to avoid the full app we all want

More entertainment and sport meaning more than Neon and Fanpass?  Or better Neon and better Fanpass?

Now, if Sky Go had more that would help. It has many channels, there seems to be a a few Sky ones missing, i.e. Prime. Ive used SkyGo a bit lately, its been good as has the res on my iPads

So, no puck = save money. Upgrade SkyGo, easy. Improve Neon and Fanpass, ok

For me, SkyGo has to go to all Sky channels. BUT I gather from some here its not that good on a TV (well, its NOT supposed to be used on a  TV) so, it needs to be if its to be a full app

I had a feeling based on some conversations I'd had with Sky over a period of time, that the Puck wasn't shaping up the way they wanted. Apps are better in some regards, allows them to sink the investment into other infrastructure. The only issue I forsee is that instead of being end to end solution responsible, they will end up like Spark where they are just the passthru and this allows them to be support hands off with that solution.

I agree but it will be interesting to see what diversity of TVs they will provide apps for. Spark Sport apps for RWC will work with only late model TVs (last two or three years) made by the four main manufacturers.

Like Spark they will only focus on modern devices to keep dev costs down. Providing an Android App, Apple TV/IOS App and allowing people to get their own hardware is more sensible if less controlled.

For me at leats, if there was a full app, its also now on one unit, along with my other streaming apps, but satellite is here to stay

Is Increased "focus on the apps" for Neon and Fanpass as they state? I dont have either, and Im sure most Sky subscribers dont have them either. So there is something for non Sky subscribers but not apparently for Sky subscribers?

If they provide an IPTV app that will do everything that our current STB does - i.e. Sky channels we subscribe to plus the FTA channels (TVNZ, Three etc) then that would suit me down to the ground. Don’t wish to ditch Sky but would like to ditch their STB. And I would really like a better UI and EPG. The current laggy Sky remote drives me nuts.

I won't be getting rid of my STB any time soon, that's for sure.

The key is console support for any streaming service. I don't think I own a PS4 game.
