They want $15 a month even after I am paying for MySky? LOL. That's a hard no from me.

The Sky Decoder works fine, Satellite is ultra-reliable, the picture quality is good.

I would’ve thought the $15 is just the mysky fee that you are paying, it won’t be $15 plus $15 surely…

My parents “purchased” The myskyhdi back in the day (2008 just prior to the Olympics iirc) for $600, so never had to pay the monthly fee. I assume if they upgrade now they have to pay the $15 though…

The only benefit to me is potentially being able to move this to another room temporarily.

Multiroom sort of.

WyleECoyoteNZ:

Can't go back 3 days for TV 1,2 or 3. Does have the apps available to install for Netflix, TVNZ+, ThreeNOW, Disney+, Neon, Prime Video, Spotify.

Haven't used it a lot yet to comment on any frustrations.

I do like the fact it's hidden from view. Black cable is Ethernet, and white is the power cable

That's annoying you can't catch up 1,2 or 3 as the details just say 72 hour catch up but not any channel restriction so had hoped it worked the same way it does with VTV. Can you catchup anything from the free channels even the same day or have to go to the apps for that now? Can you at least watch the free channels via the pod? Was assuming it was everything you can watch via Sky.

I'm only guessing here, but with the ability to install and use the TVNZ+ & ThreeNOW Apps on the Sky Pod, you can use that to which content from the relevant channels.

I haven't yet logged into those Apps on the Pod, so will do that tonight and see if it makes a difference.

Purchase a Sky sub, then create a login, easy.

Sky On Demand is also on the Sky sub, and I assume the new device

It says its using Sky Go, so I would assume it would be better than SSN

Is it confirmed that it is SkyGo on the new pods??

So you could have the Pod at your holiday home and the sky box at home?

Is it confirmed that the Sky Pod us just using Sky Go rather than the broadcast channels? Does that mean it's not even HD? How does the promised scrolling back 3 days on the guide to watch anything work then?

I’m thinking about doing a year sub for sport before price goes up but quality always concerns me. The pod would be better if it’s using sky go . I don’t watch anything else on sky

You probably won't get many answers yet as the Sky terms prohibit talking about the units publicly that are in customer test.

Sky "broadcast" their channels over the satellite.  You need a satellite dish to pick up those channels.

They also stream those channels over the internet.  Sky Go is used to watch via that medium.

They also make video available on demand over the internet.

Those are effectively different delivery mediums, so they will be independent of each other with regards to the quality.

Is it even HD quality?
I would assume that the content delivered over the internet is HD - for whatever definition of HD Sky chooses to use.
The definition of HD is "higher quality than SD" which isn't actually that high a bar...

So yes, it will be HD.  Whether the quality is acceptable to Geekzone members is a completely different question (one that has been discussed several times)
To talk objectively about it we would have to go into resolutions and frame rates etc etc.  "HD" is just too broad a term.

How does the scrolling back 3 days to watch anything work?

They would need to keep the last 3 days of broadcast/stream available as a 'rolling window' of content that is available to watch.
Then you just need to start playing that stream 'from a certain point' e.g. 2:30pm yesterday afternoon.
Its not exact - it might drop you in a bit before the show actually starts.
