Great, so to watch just Premier League & Formula 1 I now have to spend $25 + $33 per month.

Yeah, nah! That's over $7 per hour based on my minimal viewing habits.

Should have ditched Spark and grabbed F1TVPro for $79.99 a year

Handsomedan:

insane: So as a non Sky customer, and a current Spark sport customer, what's the easiest and cheapest legal way to get access to watch the premier league this year?

Mainly interested in:

- The hour long game week roundup highlights (on demand)
- Extended highlights of specific games (on demand)
- Highlights of specific games (on demand)
- Occasional watching of full length games, again on demand.

Depends on whether you want "easiest and cheapest" or "best and most convenient". They're going to be different experiences.

Sky Sport on a Sky subscription will give you access to BeIn app for online content as well as Sky Go and linear TV. It'll be expensive though. Unless there's still deals going for a 12 month sign-up in the other thread.

Sky Sport Now will give you a less pleasing but ultimately far cheaper option on a month-by-month basis. It's said earlier that it's not a great experience and we all hope it'll improve.

Don't expect either option to be as good as you've been getting from Spark.

You'd think SKY would have hit the market and let us all know their streaming plans, they've taken over from a streamer, so they need to have at least considered those people. The season starts in 2 weeks...

From what i can see they've basically said SS 8 becomes SS EPL

Typical Sky response.

So you’re used to a quality on demand streaming service where you can watch what you want when you. Here, we’ve got a single dedicated linear channel for you where you can watch what we tell you watch when we want you to watch it.

Oh I actually had an account (never used it) as part of the Spark sport sub. I only need their cheaper service and it's only $4.50 per month!

Thanks!

Searching “premier league” on sky go this afternoon I see that categories have been set up with one called “premier league 22/23” which has some games loaded as upcoming for the first weekend.
Plus additional categories for a handful of teams so far which have a couple of short videos available so far. Then also a couple for the world and review shows, which just currently show the next showing of these shows, I assume on demand copies will be available for these. Then you look at other sports on demand stuff like the nbl and nrl, which both have mini highlights and full replays up so that should be the baseline for premier league highlights. Only thing that I have yet to answer for myself is length of time it takes for the replays to show up. Might keep an eye on how long the warriors game takes to go up tonight.

Not a sky sport now subscriber, but can see they have some short premier league content loaded now. Worry a bit for on demand viewing on sky sport now, they don’t seem to have as an extensive replay catalogue on there as sky go. Can only assume sky go’s will get better with the new box that is launching too.

Do people think that Sky deliberately deliver a downgraded Sky Sports Now service with an terrible stream quality in order to push people to the more expensive Satellite option?

Sky haven't managed to transition from their monopolistic history. Competitive products for customer satisfaction is not even a thought when you are modelled on buying locked content, and just taking whatever product the overseas Sky company comes up with.
And they've secured 6 seasons more exclusive misery, just when we thought those days were behind us...

What's this about a new streaming platform or box? ...It's the hope that kills us

I had a good look for overseas streaming providers (to use via VPN) but it seems harder than previous years to find recommendations (particularly for combined UCL coverage)
Perhaps as the season gets underway things will get clearer

Thanks. Regarding Optus, do you need a Aus credit card to purchase? Also, how many screens can view simultaneous. On Spark it was two. Optus quality seems on par with Spark judging by their free content.

I think Optus chat has to take place in the 'Unblocking Services Discussion' forum.

I mentioned on Twitter that I'd started a new trial of SSN, turned to the EPL 'channel' and watched for 5mins a game from last season, and there was no doubt the image quality is considerably poorer than Spark. Sky actually replied to my tweet with this...

Do you have a link to that forum? I can see the pinned post in the Online streaming services section but that looks to have been locked since 2016.

I see Sky have now posted the schedule for next weekend with which channel each game is on and saying all be on demand.
