That's not true in my case Steve...

I have MySky and WxC VFX. They play happily together and I can order PPV movies etc. Also, I've noticed from the call logs that MySky phones home every month or so in the wee small hours, and it works without a hitch.

How did you manage to get that to work? I have also have MySky and VFX and have never been able to order PPV movies.

I didn't do anything special. Just plugged it in to the phone jack on the router (Linksys WRTP54G) and it works

I had changed address to my mums with sky, then a couple days later said i was moving back to my previous address.

Next day those #^@! sky technician come around to my mums place DEMANDING the multi-room decoder or else they will cancel my account, jeez i was going to pick it up tonight i says to them - we dont care they said.

What a bunch of tards, so i rang them up today and said I WANT MY DECODER DELIVERED TO ME FOR FREE!! And told them the next time the tresspass onto my mums property they will get the dog greeting them.

I had a WRTP54G and it worked fine with that as well. It might be dependent on the ATA you are using for VFX.

Yep, sounds like that might be the case. I have a Linksys AG310 and it won't allow dialing in by the MySky HDi box.

we have had our old sky decoded in my mothers house for almost 2 years now, we just pay for Multiroom($25 I think) and we have my-sky in our house, I haven't ever had her decoder plugged into the phone line while its been there and seems to be fine

I have a sliver Pace box as well (about 2 years). The installer told me it wasn't necessary to connect it to a phone line (just easier for PPV as it saves using the 0800 number). In just over two yearsm it has never once been connected to a phone line, at install or otherwise, and it works just fine. (I actually have no aversion to connecting it - but the placement of the TV vis the phone jacks etc makes it difficult do do so unless I want to open up the wall cavities to run cable).

If you're using ulaw or alaw as your voice codec things can work if you're on a rock solid internet connection with minimal jitter. It is certainly not a supported scenario however.

Most WxC devices will be provisioned with G.729 which will not work.

Most WxC devices will be provisioned with G.729 which will not work.

It depends on which device is trying to communicate over the phone line:

- Voice Calls use G.729
- Faxes use G.711
- MySky uses G.711

I am fairly certain that all devices supported by WxC can use G.711 if the device connecting is either a fax or a modem (a la MySky). G.711 is certainly supported by my WRTP54G.

I've got a WRTP54G on XNet Fusion (VoIP) and does not work for Sky. But I'm on the default codec. Not interested in movies, so for the once in a few months I just phone them myself. Quick and easy. The box however keeps on attempting to dial a few times a day (light flashes).

Small silver Pace box. The installer wrote VoIP on the paperwork but did not really understand howcome I've got ADSL and a phone but no phone line. Later I did plug it into the VoIP phone line but in never managed to connect to Sky (due to wrong codec).

It's been almost 2 years, no extra charge and no checking up.

I don't think it's a case of selling it but I've heard plenty of stories over the years about Sky collecting pretty valuable subscriber usage data.

I would really love to get an honest answer about what data is actually collected and used by Sky.

A sky Tech tried to con me into paying him 'under the table' to install the Sky Multiroom in my house - I rang sky to inquire about this and it is a breach of contractual obligations. Woo hoo someones in the pooper
