When we got this awesome deal the woman said that if we cancel after 12 months we can sign up with the same deal again after a 3 month stand down. Does anyone know if that is related to the property or the subscriber? i.e. if I cancel in my name and the next day my fiancé signs up in her name would that work?

I did this, had no issues, cancelled under my name, had installed the next day under fiance name (now wife). Told them i was leaving the property.

Right, well most people wouldn't feel comfortable lying.

If you're heading out the door to go to work - you're leaving the property. No lie.

Let's face it - Sky are quite happy to charge longstanding loyal customers a much higher price than new customers for the same product. No wonder the company came in bottom of the recent trusted brands survey.

That's lame. So you don't mind lying so long as you feel stiffed? Two wrongs and all that?

Personally, my integrity is worth more than a Sky subscription a year.

Almost all companies that use term contracts, charge their existing customers at the rate they signed up at, until they get onto a "new plan". Check your ISP, Telecoms Company etc.

ISP pricing versus SKY is quite different.

1. With your ISP you sign up for a given contract period at a fixed price, in the full knowledge that at the end of the contract you can easily roll into the current offering if you want. Not only is there is no such ability to roll into new pricing with SKY, they threaten to withhold their service to you for a period of time if you try to do this!

2. The differential in pricing for new ISP offerings vs older contract pricing is usually not significant (maybe around 10%) - yet the SKY pricing differential can be by a factor of two or three times of the overall cost!

There is a difference between enticing new customers while at the same time looking after your existing customer base (how I view ISPs) versus an all-out assault of low ball pricing for new customers while ignoring the long standing customers you have locked into pricing at a much, much higher price (how I view SKY).

I need to have Sky back :-(   I'll do the Basic and Sport for 59 and cancel for 3 months each year to keep it a sensible cost

F1, one box, Docos, Cricket, tennis, harness racing (dont gamble, sporting interest). Sky Go, handy at times

Dish location might be an issue, due to concrete roof and high next door roof

Is the stand down 2 months or 3?

I'll dig out the 0800 number on here tonight

Are there any Sky installers here? I have some questions about the install

Thanks mate.

What hardware does that get you?

Assume a mysky box of some variety in order to provide HD via hdmi?

1TB MySky HD. Pretty Decent Deal. I am not 100% sure on the HD ticket.

Was the test match in 1080 or 576? [I'm guessing one "could" tell the difference"]

Thanks to all for this.

Just acquired Sports and HD for $48.99 per month with a free install.

Sports alone was an option for $39 but hey, it's 2016 now and I actually do give a damn about the image quality...

Includes MySky+ 1TB unit, whatever that means.  I have no idea if that's good or not.  Install this week apparently, which in my case will mean turning up and plugging it in.

Funny, as if it was priced at a max of $50 per month I'd be in.  I do rather object to HD being considered a premium option as we move into 4k times, so ideal say $40 a month long term would be ideal.

This deal reverts to a normal price of $107.50 after 12 months apparently, at which point you've literally got to be joking.  I can't see that pricing model, and Sky's efforts to only sell their offerings to their existing customers (seriously?!) lasting very long.  Wonder what the Vodafone future will include.

Anyhow, thank you to all.

Installer was a no show yesterday afternoon.  Phone call back and apparently on for this afternoon.  Confidence is not riding high...

They've also been rationalising/closing branches recently, which has slowed things down somewhat.

Cancel it after 9 months and then you can get it installed again 3 months later for the same $50 deal.
