freitasm: A reminder folks: to access the beta website YOU WILL NEED THE CREDENTIALS SENT IN THE EMAIL AS WELL AS YOUR LOGIN.

luckily when the [obscure] link in my head to Charlie's Golden ticket made sense, it was easy enough to remember this too :)

Lightbox:
sultanoswing: Thanks for the beta invite, guys. One question about it: perhaps I'd rather do the free trial when it's up & running & has all of its content. As beta testers, does this period count as our "free 30 day trial" ?

Thanks for your input. Just want to spell this out clearly:

Our current beta will end with us purging our entire database. To continue using the product after our full launch, you'll have to sign up again. That's not terribly convenient, but it does mean that you'll be eligible for the full free trial post launch.

when does the beta end? being that i can see an auto subscription renewal sitting there unless I unsub?

very impressed with how easy it was to sign up tho, did it while at work, yet to actually test content as still at work :(

PhantomNVD:
attewell: Is there a iPad app to go to with this? It do we just use browser ?

Wouldn't work on my iPad's browser, link to app (NZ store only):

https://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/lightbox-nz/id893849629?mt=8

JarrodM:you should be able to get around the 90 day restriction if you have not yet "purchased" the app as I believe the restriction is on downloading already purchased content, not new content.

c
onfirmed, thanks!

Switch app stores to NZ, 'buy' free app, switch back, working :)

Awesome thanks for the link. Was getting a bit stuck there.

Thanks for the invite, much appreciated.

I don't have time to test it at the moment, and I'm still shaking off the flu. I may give it a whirl on the weekend, if the flu medication works sufficiently to let me summon up the energy and brainpower after struggling back to work. Sigh. Or should I say *cough*?

I will certainly post feedback if I do.

Someone has already commented.. but I reiterate.. if you pause.. would be great if it remembered where you left off.. on any device..

Also noticed on web page that the items didn't scroll smoothly..

StarBlazer: I've tried to create an account but it hung on the credit card page. Now when I try to open the beta page it just hangs. What should I do? Is this a known issue?

Okay so I'd entered my credit card details and it hung. I restarted the browser and it hung again. Clicked on the validate link and I got a message like invalid token. So applied for another token, got the email, followed the link and got the same invalid token message. Then tried to restart the account process but got an already registered message.

If it wasn't for someone posting the link to iTunes then I would be stuck.

Anyway, logged on and appears to be working well. Good effort.

Will try it at work tomorrow.

Chromecast works if you cast the entire screen. Bit laggy but it works.

Which is not really a Lightbox issue.

Absolutely correct. Casting the entire screen is always laggy no matter what the content. I guess its the tradeoff of being able to cast Lightbox or not. To be honest I'd prefer a native app for Xbox 360 over Chromecast.

I'm in - so far so good.

I'm assuming that we can pickup and drop off any time we like?  I.e. during summer I'm not a big tv watcher, but during winter when rugged up inside - so if I paused the subscription for a few months, would the account somehow expire?

I know it's been mentioned before, but it would be good if the ipad screen could be turned off during airplay - that is one way to get onto the big screen.

I'm also having success with Pipelight (as mentioned in earlier posts) on Ubuntu 14.04.  (As an aside, I notice that gamepass in Firefox works much better too via pipelight)

I do wonder if a cheap set top box wouldn't go amiss - it would certainly increase the WAF (The wife is already giving me funny looks after explaining the service ...)

Cheers!

You'd have thought they would let people access the service for... research. Yes, research, that's the ticket.

solaybro: I find that the look of the emails you send isn't that great, it doesn't match that of the site. Probably the least important thing but I thought you might like to know.

didn't even notice as I was excited to get though and see it all myself, but fair comment, somewhat spartan email, though THB I couldn't have cared less as I was just skimming to find the next 'activate' link :)

*update - I also just signed up for a trial month on Netflix.... when last did you look at THEIR emails critically? :)

Wow... watched my first ever epsiode of break bad, it was good.  Wife was watching Orange is the new Black at the same time.

No buffering for both of us.  Impressive.

However, data usage is high.  One epsiode of BB used 4GB in an hour.  Need to watch my data usage closely now.  =-P
