So my 12 months of $50 sky had come to an end and knowing I had to give 28 days notice I rang them 30 days before. The 1st woman on the phone wasn't at all interested in keeping me at the $50 a month level, so I asked to be disconnected, at which point I was transferred to the disconnection team, the 2nd next woman was really surprised I wasn't willing to fork out $107 a month, so instead of disconnecting me she offered me another 3 months at the $50 rate.

How many 3 months extensions can I get before they finally give up?

Jaxson:

Installer was a no show yesterday afternoon.  Phone call back and apparently on for this afternoon.  Confidence is not riding high...

Showed at 2pm, when no one was home. Left a card, which said I couldn't be reached, on the wrong phone number...

Phone games and several staff transfers later, I may get this Tuesday next week...

@Finch - why cancel after 9 months? Better to cancel after 11 months which means one months notice in which you get to watch and then 2 month stand down - that's what I'll be doing in 4 months time and then after the stand down period I'll be signing back up again.

The big problem with cancelling and then restarting is that I will lose all the stuff I have saved and haven't watched yet

In my case I'm now impressed they got the right house, having got the wrong day and phone number...

I don't understand why people record more stuff than they can watch.

Isn't that the one time that torrent seems OK?  The show has been broadcast, you've paid for the right to view it, you've recorded it but now for some reason you can't (similar to interference on the recording or a schedule mess-up).  I have no qualms in these instances downloading

Actually just received a letter with a photocopy of the form filled out by the telemarketing company.

All my details are correct on this, including phone number and date of installation booked.

No HD rugby this weekend.  Wonder when they'll start charging me...

If they said you would have it by the weekend, see if they will give you fanpass for the day so you can watch tonight's game as compensation?

1080p on a 160" screen? That's not good enough! Need 4K!

Surely they can provision the HD ticket over the phone... you just call the main sky number and add it.

Edit: Or do you mean they haven't done the install yet?

That sucks!

Has anyone had an install done that required a dish to be installed?  Any cost?

Yes, I had one done when I moved into my current place in 2014. I don't believe there was any additional cost.
