Apparently being installed this afternoon.

Sounds like the installer doesn't have the HD ticket on his books, so expect that to be another phone call epic with Sky to configure.

Basically, just wanted to advise that the telemarket deal seems to be outsauced and arranged by a company external to Sky.  Their processes behind the scenes are still very paper form based, so errors are to be expected...

He has to ring up to provision the new service so get him to add it then.

Yes it is a telemarketing company... not Sky.  Saying that I had no issue with my order.  About to do it all over again.

So we finally have Sky.

Have a box with a separate wifi unit sitting out the back.

All in all, despite asking for (and now having a copy of the application by the telemarketers) they've ballsed up:

  • Install date
  • Contact Phone Number
  • No HD ticket
  • and billing not setup to be emailed.

Reaffirms my thoughts on Sky really, but it's here now.  A huge thanks to those who shared the details on this deal.

Do you think I can get Basic, HD Ticket, My Sky+ and Sports + MultiRoom with MySky+ for $75?

If every new install goes the same way, yes it does, but like many issues raised, is it what everyone gets, or is this one of the smaller number of not normal issues?

I've done this twice through this external company and my installs have been perfect. The installer even came in the weekend at our request.

Is the application by the telemarketers incorrect or have Sky made a mistake... it's not clear.

Sky sent me a copy of the Telemarketers application form, and all of the information on there was recorded correctly.

The errors occurred after that point, presumably by whomever subsequently inputted this information.  I don't know who, where or how that is undertaken, only that the information was recorded correctly from my phone conversation with the telemarketing company.

It's not a biggy, but it is a pain when you've gone out of your way to be available for a whole day as arranged.  It's in and working now, but should have been in prior to the All Blacks, Warriors and F1GP we had lined up for the weekend in full HD...

A few weeks from now, this will all be a far distant memory as you enjoy your HD Sports ! :)

Just got mine installed. Pretty easy process. Only really wanted sports in HD and nothing else. But still cheaper than Fanpass for now, and has all sports channels.

Hopefully in 12 months when it expires, Fanpass will have all pop up channels. Then I can just use that.

Just signed up for the $59 deal. Anyone else had to pay at the time of install for the first month?

Told them I would pay COD on the day.

Yes, I had to pay on the day of the install. I choose to pay by credit card and the installer rang through to process the payment (as opposed to having mobile eftpos). When I received my first bill, the payment didn't show up. Had to call Sky to get the issue sorted, took about two weeks.

What's the logic behind this? Why not just add the amount to the first bill?

I remember the previous Sky tech install which I requested in 2011, there was a $49 COD but it was on top of the monthly charge. (New dish plus multi)

I also remember paying COD for MySkyHD install back in 2008. (SD Box swap)
